The game was forgettable so I'm up for talking about something else.

Today reminded me just how generic our gameday atmosphere is. Other than the totally ghey pre-game semi graphic, and their very weak band, Iowa does it right. The music was fun and modern. They play Back in Black when they come down the tunnel and the way it builds anticipation is just fantastic.

It's truly a big time college football atmosphere. Our games feel like D-III or a glorified high school game.

Oh, and one more thing, I could not have been MORE EMBARASSED by our band breaking into song while Iowa came onto the field after half time. Really? We are reduced to being classless now? It didn't help that we were getting smoked by 28 points. Intentionally playing loudly while Iowa was huddling near their own end zone isn't much better. That stuff could not be more minor league.

I don't recall hearing it after halftime 2 years ago but I do remember ISU did the same thing as Iowa took the field pre-game.

The band is told when to play by an employee of the University of Iowa. He wears a headset and someone in the press box tells us when we get to play.

Had no clue about that. Seems like odd timing to have the ISU band play when the home team comes out onto the field? Thanks for the info

The Cyclones we entering the field too. I believe both bands played the fight song simultaneously.

Also, playing loud when they're backed up into the endzone is fun and actually effective. Last time we were in Kinnick Stanzi actually turned around to look as us.

As a band we're actually far more polite than most that visit Jack Trice. Most bands play whenever the **** they want.

That is certainly modern. That song was old when I was five. Have you ever seen ISU lose? Games like this happen. The sun will come up, I swear.

Dear smart guy: They played a hell of a lot more than one song today.

Regarding pre-game anticipation building... we keep getting videos like the one that is used this year, we'll be fine, thats one outstanding video. Just need one thing to make it effective- new video board and sound system... and hopefully that'll get done soon, as pollard seems to be indicating in some recent quotes\info released from the AD..

You mean they have speakers you can hear something out of. Did they understand how their video board works and what to put on it.

How many more threads are you going to start? ...and when will they have substance?

How was the Iowa band weak? It was certainly the louder and larger of the two bands.

Do they need more big horns?

You're kidding right? I don't know what you guys do over on BHGP or Hawkeyenation, but here, we use this :jimlad: to denote sarcasm. You type it out like this : j i m l a d : , just without the spaces.

Because I know that you certainly didn't say the HMB was better than the ISUCF'V'MB. I've seen both bands many times over the past 10 years and not once has what you are saying been true.

You don't even have to take my word for it. They said the ISU band was much better on ESPN3. There were many times during the game that I could hear ISU's band, but not once, other than the national anthem, could I hear the HMB.

Yes, they are playing that new song by AC/DC, Back in Black at their stadium. Now that's the definition of "big time". I mean, I'll bet no other team ever plays that 30 year old song at their stadium right?:jimlad:

God, the stuff that fans are ******* and moaning about today...
