I mean one reason is that we have eyes. You see, our eyes have evolved to focus light from the outside world onto our retinas which are sensitive to the wavelength variations which are communicated through signals sent to our brains via the our optic nerves, and we perceive those signals as color.
As visible light hits something, some materials will absorb specific wavelengths. In this case that material is skin pigment containing little to no melatonin. The wavelengths that aren't absorbed get reflected.
When no light is absorbed and the entire visible spectrum is reflected back into our eyes, we can see Iowa's basketball roster, and our brains interpret that as Iowa's basketball roster because we've seen it so often there before, and nearly nowhere else with very few exceptions. And then we laugh.
When you throw up, you're suppose to hold on to the stool with both hands and keep you're head up to avoid the back splash.
That's funny! But only those who visit here regularly would get it. Same with making fun of Mad Fran and Iowa.I heard it was a grades issue....
