I have a 98 Ford Taurus and have a problem with the dome light and lights under the dash not urn off. I replaced the driver-side door latch, which fixed the door ajar light on my dash. But now that I fixed the door ajar light the lights to the dome and under the dash won't turn off. I have tried looking on the web but everytihng tells me to spray WD-40, which I have and does not appear to be working. I have checked all the connections for the door and they appear to be working so does anyone know what I am missing?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you shouldn't have replaced the driver-side door latch but rather just covered up the door ajar idiot light with some black tape. At least that's what Click and Clack would have done.

:skeptical:Seriously, all you did was replace this latch and now you've got a secondary problem? I'm guessing the door switch does not work manually. You could remove the door switch just for kicks.

'97 F150, same problem about 5 years ago, sprayed it with some silicon spray and it never returned.

Still not funny. :dull:

You need a pair of wire cutters. Cut the wires leading to the affected lights and they won't be a problem anymore.

If that does not work do the following: fasten your seatbelt tight + drive down the road + lock up your brakes when someone is behind you = new car.

Usually you can come on here and get some good advice.

Question: Where did you purchase this Taurus? Did you buy it from Pinkly Motors? Is it a Pinkly Taurus?

I think I might know what the problem is. Go to the front of your car and look at the grill. If you see this symbol, that is most likely the problem.
