I don't think we'll win, but I really like this matchup. Garmann is overrated and not a great runner, which allows the defense to focus in more on the running back. If the front 6 can stop the run and the safeties can avoid the big play the defense will be fine. This is a week for the offense to make a lot of progress too.
On what are you basing that comment?
Daxx Garman started the season as the QB2. In Fall camp he had to share 2nd team snaps with promising true Freshman Mason Rudolph. During the two games leading up to Walsh's injury, he got about 25% of the snaps.
Then he was thrust into the the Missouri State game, when Walsh got hurt. Since then he has thrown TD passes of 87, 21, 33, 18, 33, 39, 47 and 50 yards in chronological order. Here's the first TD pass of his career (please not how he threw it, the spin he put on it and how accurate it was);

Let's compare Garman to Bryce Petty.
Name | Cmp | Att | YDs | TDs | INTs |
Bryce Petty | 66 | 101 | 913 | 7 | 1 |
Daxx Garman | 49 | 87
| 929 | 8 | 2 |
Note that Garman has more yards passing and more TDs, despite throwing 14 fewer attempts.
Garman is #4 in QBR in the Big 12, behind Petty, Trickett and Knight, and ahead of Webb, Boykin, Waters, Richardson, Swoopes and Cozart. This, despite being the only QB in the list that didn't start the season opener for their respective team.
From ESPN:
Through three games, Daxx Garman ranks No. 3 nationally in passing yards per completion at a whopping 18.96 yards. He's also ranked No. 7 in FBS in passing yards per attempt at 10.68. That's about as good a start as OSU could've asked for after losing J.W. Walsh.
Garman is only getting better each week. Note that he put up 370 passing yards against Tech, even though he didn't complete a pass in the 4th quarter (he only attempted two). However, he DID have a touchdown run.
