I know everyone is excited about Dreamy and the boys, as am I. However I am still looking forward to seeing how our football team progresses this week.

I really hope our offense can make a huge leap this week and we start seeing some of the youth take over and become men. I cant remember the last time we won in Stillwater, I wish I was going down. I think we will have a more entertaining game to watch tomorrow. Thoughts?

Need a win to bring life back to the football board. Nothing much more to say about this team until they come up with something for us to get excited about. I'm more of a football guy but can definitely understand why many of the eyeballs are already fixated on basketball. It's more fun for people to follow a top 10 team than it is to keep hoping for something that may or may not happen this year. Losing wears on people.

I don't think we'll win, but I really like this matchup. Garmann is overrated and not a great runner, which allows the defense to focus in more on the running back. If the front 6 can stop the run and the safeties can avoid the big play the defense will be fine. This is a week for the offense to make a lot of progress too.

It all depends on Ok St imo. If they show up ready to go and playing their "A" or "B" game, it will not be close (21-28 points). There is a very good chance our offense will continue to be bad. We we will make a good amount of mistakes and have trouble consistently executing simple football plays, but hopefully Ok St can out-stumble us.

A win this week would simply save the season. With a chance of being 3-3 going into TEXAS.

EDIT: Thanks nh

I just remember Lane Danielson saving our bacon in that game. I think he was still a walk on at the time.

A good number of us have always preferred basketball, anyway. That's been the case for me.

The powerful lack of winning (or often even competing) means that football has to earn its attention. I don't see tomorrow helping with that.

Listening to the podcast, I was surprised at how many true freshmen and RS freshmen they are playing. In that context, their performance against Florida State is pretty impressive

That's pretty much it. We've only notched a close win against one team, a team that probably is in the easy quarter of our schedule this year (only Toledo and Kansas worse), and we've lost 3 straight games at home (and our home record going back the last couple years is atrocious.

I grew up in a time that we were better at basketball than football, but I've always given preferential treatment to football because it is a sport I enjoyed so much playing myself. When Fred got the ball of dreamy buckets rolling though that started to change.

I won't give up on our football guys though, I can not wait to go to a bowl game again.

The team has been pretty quiet this week from what I know, I hope they are ready to go tomorrow and we can surprise OK State.

I feel like our offense is on the cusp of having a breakout game, I just hope it is soon.

We have a chance, not a good one, but at least a chance. If the 'Pokes play their best, they could beat us just as badly as Baylor did. If they are off and we play our best, it could be a competitive game.

I am looking forward to finding out which Ok St shows up.

Yup, there is a game tomorrow. Until this team finds a way to beat teams that arent awful, its going to be hard to pry fans away from basketball discussion. More than that though I think its finally sinking in with fans that we are a basketball school with a football problem.

I don't see why we cant work towards being a "both" school. No professional teams in Iowa, it shouldn't have to be one way or the other, Football pays the bills.

The easy quarter of our schedule? Sagarin has our SOS at 4. Realtime RPI has it at 1.

That's so clever! Did you just think that one up? Or did you just become a fan of ISU?

On what are you basing that comment?

Daxx Garman started the season as the QB2. In Fall camp he had to share 2nd team snaps with promising true Freshman Mason Rudolph. During the two games leading up to Walsh's injury, he got about 25% of the snaps.

Then he was thrust into the the Missouri State game, when Walsh got hurt. Since then he has thrown TD passes of 87, 21, 33, 18, 33, 39, 47 and 50 yards in chronological order. Here's the first TD pass of his career (please not how he threw it, the spin he put on it and how accurate it was);

Let's compare Garman to Bryce Petty.

Bryce Petty6610191371
Daxx Garman4987
92982

Note that Garman has more yards passing and more TDs, despite throwing 14 fewer attempts.

Garman is #4 in QBR in the Big 12, behind Petty, Trickett and Knight, and ahead of Webb, Boykin, Waters, Richardson, Swoopes and Cozart. This, despite being the only QB in the list that didn't start the season opener for their respective team.

From ESPN:
Through three games, Daxx Garman ranks No. 3 nationally in passing yards per completion at a whopping 18.96 yards. He's also ranked No. 7 in FBS in passing yards per attempt at 10.68. That's about as good a start as OSU could've asked for after losing J.W. Walsh.

Garman is only getting better each week. Note that he put up 370 passing yards against Tech, even though he didn't complete a pass in the 4th quarter (he only attempted two). However, he DID have a touchdown run.

Those are pretty good numbers, STP, but doesn't that 56% completion rate concern you at least a little bit? Even the ISU coaches recognize that the QBs have to have a 60% completion rate minimum to give the team a good chance to be successful.

Look at you with you're equally terrible cliche remarks. You and I could be a powerful comedy team on these boards.

I'm not sure what part of my post is inserting sand into your orifices. Was it the cliche? Or was it the stinging reality that we are not good at football and we're not trending that way either. I haven't called for the staffs head. I still watch the games and support the team but god forbid I call it like I see it.
