I like listening to Wally. No coachspeak, no BS, etc.

Hopefully the offense gets it together for the next one.

K.O. needs a new set of wheels :biglaugh:

At the CF recruitment party, my group had the good fortune of getting to speak with Wally for about 15-20 minutes and it was the highlight of my night. Said Knott and LJ will get drafted and Klein & Rump definitely could, but need to get better.

You're right too, the guy tells it like it is. I won't name the player, but Wally said there's a guy on the defense they all call Einstein because he's so dumb. Hilarious.

Looking at the qbs highlights, I rank them: #2, #18, #14, and #16.

Still seeing lots of off target throws with no wind, no pressure. I think the qbs have a ways to go.

Looks like we may run more.

So no Tiller?

Sounds like we have the possibility of a very good D this year, hopefully our O doesn't hold them back...not getting the Center/QB exchanges scares me, even at this point in the season. Those are fundamental things...

Do not like to see it, but it is a practice thing imo, not a fundamental roster problem (not having any pass rushers or play-making WRs).

Yeah with Farniok there might be some trouble at the C/QB exchange but that will fix. Sounds like the D will be a powerhouse and like Erik said hopefully our offense doesn't hold 'em back

I agree with swarthmore. The snaps are something that can be corrected in practice with repetition. Something that I hadn't considered was the possibility of taking more snaps under center, and that being the root cause of the issues, but I haven't heard any rumors of that, so I'm guessing it's just getting that shotgun snap back to the QB quickly and on target.

I attended the clinic and practice- My observations from practice today: Tiller had problems with his throwing shoulder and had has reps limited, Jantz took full advantage, he is very elusive and had the offense moving most of the time- Shontrelle Johnson is the real deal, he made guys miss and had some great runs- D-line looked good, had pressure on the QB numerous times-Passing game was erratic, but the defense does know the calls and audibles at the LOS, which makes it difficult on the offense- FG kicking was shaky, missed several, but did make them all during a red zone period- Jake Knott did not participate in the scrimmage at all, had his pads off, might be dinged, he did participate in drills before the scrimmage started- Leonard Johnson looked very good, had several big hits- Several missed tackles at times, they came in bunches, however our running backs are elusive.

Thanks for the synopsis. Any WRs jump out at you or was the passing game too erratic to really get a grasp on that group?

Jennert is impressive looking, made a nice catch in the end zone-he's working with the 2's mostly and had some time with the 1's, Horne made some nice plays-he's tiny by the way, Hammerschmidt is a nice TE, actually all the TE's made some plays. Money didn't have much of a chance to make a play, had a couple short catches, although, I left before the scrimmage ended.

That would be nice if he could produce like Groce. The passing game was inconsistent, but when they had the red zone period it picked up some and was a lot better after that. Somebody mentioned the bad snaps, I think it was mostly the 2's and 3's, at one point Coach Rhoads was very upset and kicked the center responsible off the field, I didn't catch the #. Kirby V looked great punting during the special teams time also, forgot to mention that earlier.

From what I saw, I thought limiting Tiller today was good. It gave Jantz the opportunity to really show his stuff without the Tiller pressure. Honestly, I wasn't impressed with him today. I thought he ran the ball too much on passing plays. To me, that's a sign of uncertainty with the passing game or lack of knowledge of the reads. That surprised me considering how much CPR talks about his film study and preparation. Hopefully, he gets better this week. I really want to see a true spread passing attack this year. I thought Barnett looked good with the 2's and 3's and I thought Capello did ok, not great, but ok in his reps. I wonder why all of the guys didn't run with the 1's a little, especially with Tiller having limited reps and with this being an open competition? Any insight on that? I also thought Duck looked pretty good today too.

Jantz did tuck and run a lot today, but some of that could be the newness of the system, like you pointed out. He did look very good running the ball. Coach Rhoads had stated earlier that he and Tiller would get most of the reps with the 1's and 2's, but today Jantz got a ton of reps, I think that may have been by design after Tiller got dinged. I thought all the running backs did well, James White had some good, tough runs, but Johnson looks every bit as good as advertised. Did you see his early runs that were taken back by penalties? They were unreal.

Shontrelle is the real deal. And, I think if Duck can continue to develop each week and do well in pass protection, Woody my see his reps greatly decrease. Duck can be a short yardage guy that will also go for 50. Woody can't do that. James White will be limited due to his size in pass protection...but he could give a little burst at times and be good on RB screens. I really like Horne! He may
be the reason why Jantz was so successful, not the other way around. That kid is really good!
