The relevant bits of the discussion:

SOUNDINGS IN THE NW CWA DROPS
TO FREEZING OR BELOW THROUGH DEPTH OF ATMOSPHERE BY FRIDAY NIGHT AND
HAVE INCLUDED A RAIN/SNOW MIX THERE. MAY ACTUALLY SWITCH ENTIRELY
TO SNOW FROM TIME TO TIME...ESPECIALLY NEAR KEST WITH SOME
ACCUMULATION...MAINLY ON GRASS. THE UPPER LOW WILL LIFT THROUGH THE
STATE EARLY SATURDAY WITH INCREASING CAA INTO THE STATE. ANTICIPATE
RAIN AND SNOW TO PERSIST IN THE NW WITH PLAIN RAIN SE OF A
KMCW-KEBS-KADU LINE. COBB OUTPUT INDICATES SOME ACCUMULATION OF 1
TO 3 INCHES
OR SO IN THE NORTHWEST CORNER OF CWA WITH LITTLE IF ANY
ELSEWHERE. HOWEVER...THE EURO WHICH IS SLOWER AND EVENTUALLY COLDER
CRANKS OUT NORTHWARD OF 6 INCHES IN NORTH CENTRAL IOWA
...MAINLY ON
SATURDAY INTO SATURDAY NIGHT. SITUATION WILL CONTINUE TO BE WATCHED
CLOSELY FOR THE POTENTIAL FOR GREATER SNOWFALLS THAN ANTICIPATED AT
THIS POINT

Man I miss Iowa. Always loved the freak-out before the snow only to be let down. Until the "big one" hits and shuts down schools for a couple of days.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First "possible" accumulating snow 2 weeks into November??? We should be happy! Usually, the first accumulating snow seems to hit sometime in October.

I was wondering when I should switch over to my snow tires. Looks like it's time. Last year with my 18" "summer only" tires I got stuck 3 times in less than a block with less than 6" of snow.

At this point I wouldn't worry too much about snow if your in the Des Moines area, its to the north and west that have to watch it closer. Actually with the current ground temps, barring a larger storm like the Euro, the snow is unlikely to stick to driving surfaces if some areas do end up with 1-3 inches.

Will it stick to my tongue? Thats all I want to know

Good to hear. Just as long as the streets are okay.
