On my two computers, old and new, firefox has become virtually unusable. It sits in the "connecting" mode with the little wheel spinning for somtimes minutes, where other browsers act normal.

One was an install from years ago, updated and all that. I did all but the "nuclear" option, to no avail.

The other computer is brand new, it was working fine until installing adblocker plus, then it started doing the exact same thing. Even after removing it, the browser still crawls.

Sounds like a user error.

Anyway, even the nuclear option (removing user data) didn't solve the issue. Maybe the so-called nuclear option isn't so nuclear.

It seems your signature is quite apt here.

Okay, please tell me how it isn't user error? It's not the browser. Why? Millions of people have the browser with limited issues. I have it, and don't have a problem. This problem would be on your side (user) and either something is wrong with your setup or machine, NOT Firefox.

Someone please tell me that stupidity causes cancer so I don't have to face the fact that I might become dumb enough to stop breathing because I read what other people say. (EDIT: I'm not talking to the OP here)

I have used it for years, no problems. Then last weekend it became slow as snails on my old computer. I had a new computer in the works for sometime, I put firefox on, it ran fine. Installed adblocker plus, instantly it became super duper slow. Removed it. Still slow. Unistalled (including user data) firefox, re-installed it, same results.

Did you uninstall and download to reinstall? Worked like a charm for me last time I had probs.

Yep. I am starting to wonder if it is some sort of company security update, both computers in question are work computers.

The pages still load, they just wait awhile to connect. Once they "connect," they load at normal speeds.

And you choose to continue reading? Who's the dumb one?

Well, the only way to test it, is get a personal computer and try it? No?

It could be a million things including "user error". User error could be something as simple as a small option checked or not checked. We have all had it happen at some point and if you say you haven't you are lying.

Most likely this is a result of a conflict of software. If you are using a PC, PC's share files among programs. Sometimes installing new software or uninstalling software can cause issues in other software. This is why Windows will often ask if you want to delete specific files that may be used by other programs while you are uninstalling a program.

My suggestion is to delete Firefox and re install it, this will bring all supporting files up to date where an update might not. My first suggestion though would be to get chrome.

For some reason, firefox took a **** on me this afternoon as well. I've never had issue with it before, don't visit porn sites and usually use this computer to visit here and that is it. I'm using a Mac (OK, throw the insults out, but our house laptop is a PC.) I'm not really looking for answers here, just thought I'd post since it seems odd that this is happening the same day as this is posted. Basically I start firefox and it ends up locking up my entire computer. Don't know if these are connected issues, but just thought I'd throw this in the discussion.
