I'm just looking for some fantasy football advice. I am in a standard league where we can choose one and only one player to keep from the previous year. My draft is not for another couple of weeks, so I have time to make a decision. Which of the following should I keep?

Matt Ryan QB - Atlanta Falcons
Brandon Marshall WR - Chicago Bears
Arian Foster RB - Houston Texans
Doug Martin RB - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Any cost associated with keeping someone?

Currently Foster seems like the best choice. I wouldn't waste the keeper on a QB like Matt Ryan. While he is good, he isn't that much better than what is usually available.

How many teams are there in the league?

What number draft pick do you have?

Unfortunately, won't know until draft day. I don't like the way we do this, but we draw out of a hat for draft order. IMHO, it should be reverse order of finish from last season.

Doug Martin

Foster is hurt, you could upgrade at QB, and Marshall is the only reliable WR on his team. He starts getting double teamed, and he is no good.

Good questions, I should have explained more. It is a 14-team league. In this league, you have the option of whether to keep or not keep. If you keep, you don't get a 1st round pick. So, for instance, if eight of our teams choose to keep, they will randomly draw to be spots #1-8 in the draft, and their keeper is their 1st round pick. The non-keepers then get draft spots #9-14. So, the team in the #9 spot gets the first pick of any players that weren't kept. Then we proceed in the normal "snake draft order" for the remainder of the draft.

Do you lose the draft pick you took them with? If not then keep Martin IMO. Foster would be ok as well, but I worry about him having 400+ carries last year.

Don't consider either of the other players, that would be a huge mistake.

EDIT: Saw your draft type, the advice is the same. Keep on of those two.

Who might be available? Like who does the team with AP also have?
I would probably go with Foster still, but Martin is an acceptable choice. Keeping nobody could be acceptable as well depending on who you think will be available.

I actually disagree, the only player that would be 100% better than Martin or Foster would be Peterson, but whoever has AP will certainly keep him. At that point is isn't worth the risk to try to draft Spiller, Lynch, Rice, or Charles by hoping you get one of the early non-keeper picks.

CY4lifer is in a basically the 2nd best position to keep a player in his league after the team with Peterson.

The team with AP also has Tom Brady and Michael Turner as best options. I am pretty sure that I will keep one of these, mainly due to the lack of uncertainty about the draft order. (You know, that "bird in the hand" thing.)

Early poll results are leaning towards a Foster/Martin show down, but CNN has decided it is just too early to declare a winner, yet.

Foster just seems to be breaking down, hasnt he been banged up the last couple years? I usually dont draft players that have missed time the last couple years. (Unless its AP)

Foster played all 16 games last year, his rushing stats were as good as always, but his receiving yards were down significantly. He missed a few games two seasons ago, and he has been hurt in this preseason.

Okay, I thought he was battling through some injuries last season, but I may be thinking of someone else.

I still think you should keep Martin

I'd think about how many guys you think are going to be kept in the league. You only really make a bad choice if your keeper looks like one of the worst guys that were kept, because then you are in a random draft order with people who already have a keeper that is better than you, AND a few of them are likely to pick before you. You'd immediately be behind the 8 ball against a few teams.

I'd probably only keep guys I think were Top 5 or so. I think you probably have an easier decision than most, because Martin is a Top 5 player, and a good shot at being #1 or #2. I'd keep him.

Don't keep Foster. The best case scenario with Foster in my opinion is he still performs well with a reduced workload. I don't like that potential for a keeper t

In the past years, it is common that about 6-8 of our 14 teams (roughly half) will keep a player. My biggest dilemma is that I think with Foster & Martin, I have 2 of the top 5 (maybe 2 of the top 3) players, and I can only keep one of them. Thanks for your input.

Please tell me you won your league last year.

Yes, I did win the league last year, thanks for asking. It was my first ever championship (been playing for 8 years). I have told many that with the team I had last year, if I DIDN'T win last year, I never would!

MY 2012 FF TEAM:

QB - Matt Ryan, Russell Wilson
RB - Arian Foster, Doug Martin, Vick Ballard
WR - Brandon Marshall, Demaryius Thomas, Danario Alexander
TE - Tony Gonzalez, Coby Fleener
K - Blair Walsh, Stephen Gostkowski
D/ST - Saints, Giants

Standard league, started 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, and 1 D/ST each week. I had a good draft and was very lucky in regards to limited injuries.
