Favorite Sandwich Shop?

Man I need to get out more. Haven't had most these places being listed.

Chains: Quiznos and Jersey Mike's.

Ames: West Street

DSM: Taste of Italy Italian Beef

Curious what everyone's favorite sandwich shop is where you live? I'm in the Des Moines metro, so it's mostly franchises. My favorites around here are Wich Which, B&B Grocery (The Killer), and Jersey Mike's for a good Philly.

The Philly is good but I always have to get the original Italian Mike's Way.

Well, I’m kinda from Meyer too. McIntire ZIP code. Grew up right between the two. But Meyer is St Ansgar schools and we were just across the Riceville line.

Plus, McIntire has a certain lack of pretensions that I’ve always taken pride in. Riceville is a 4 who thinks she’s a 10. McIntire knows she’s a 4 and will give you a good time to make up for it.
My son in law is from St Ansgar. Went up one time to ride snow mobiles and visit his parents. It was a good time riding town to town.

I love a good Italian Beef but haven’t tried Taste of Italy yet. My favorites are Graziano Bros in DM, Mema’s in Grimes and Gianna’s in Cedar Rapids.

This is the way.

It's been a while, but the Sub City in Waverly was the bomb.. Meat was stacked 2 inches thick and the toppings were heaped to the max. Not just an amazing sub, but insane value.

Now, best sandwich shop I've been to anywhere? That would have to be Zingerman's deli in Ann Arbor. Prices are insane (for a sandwich) but it really is amazing. Last time was probably 10 years ago and it was close to 20 bucks for a sandwich, chips, and drink. Every time it's like "this better be the best sandwich I've ever had" and it is. It's hard to be an 'institution' at those prices unless the product is that good. And it is.
Mine would be Katzinger's Deli in Columbus, OH. Best reuben I've ever had and a menu that goes on forever.

Rode those trails a lot in high school. Hope you stopped in Carpenter.
I don’t remember all the little towns names. It was fun seeing how the towns catered to snowmobiler’s. You would pull into a town and the bar would have about 6-10 snowmobiles sitting outside.
