I've been looking for a decent TE since the season started. I started off with Todd Heap and Greg Olsen. Heap got me -2 points in Week 1 and Olsen got me -4 points in Week 2. :skeptical:

I've already dropped Olsen and picked up Dante Rosario from free agency. I've waited on dropping Heap because he's only played one game so far and I figure his Week 1 performance could be a fluke.

Now, another guy in my league is offering me Tony Gonzalez if I give him Jon Kitna. My other QBs are McNabb and Garrard. Garrard hasn't done much in the first two weeks, so I had been thinking of dropping him. I just need a decent backup QB for Philly's bye week and in case McNabb gets hurt.

Is it worth it to give up Kitna for Gonzalez?

EDIT -- I should also mention that I'm first in my league, and the guy offering me the trade just happens to be playing against me this weekend. He also already has three other QBs: Cassel, Bulger, and Delhomme.

Yes, McNabb is money and Garrard is a more than serviceable back-up. DO IT!!

mcnabb and kitna should be relatively interchangeable. mcnabb is putting up good numbers without his top receiver, and the lions are horrible aside from roy williams/calvin johnson so kitnsa should get good numbers also. i don't like gonzo because he has no one to throw him the ball and kc is god aweful. te is deep this year, i got scheffler in the 14th round and he is currently #1. also, the difference at the end of the year from the #4 TE to the #10 TE will probably only amount to about 3-4 pts/game while if mcnabb gets hurt (very likely) and you don't have a decent backup, you would be losing way more then that a week. what i'm trying to say is kitna will score on avg. 5-6 more pts a week then gerrard and gonzo will only score on avg. 3-4 more pts a week then heap.

Fantasy football isn't won on the TE position and I don't think Gonzo is going to be a fantasy stud at that position this year with that terrible Chiefs team but for Kitna it's probably worth the risk.

Kitna wont be all that special this year, and this is coming from a Lions fan. He threw way too many INT's to make him that great, so if you can get a top 3 TE for a backup QB, do it! Plus they are running a different offense this year, and might not get the passing chances he got last year.

See this is exactly what I was thinking. At first reaction you'd think Gonzalez would be worth it. But being a Chiefs fans, I know how awful their offense is. (Of course it's been awful for a few years now and Gonzo has still managed to do OK in fantasy.) I'm also worried about McNabb getting hurt and the fact that Garrard has been unimpressive so far this year. I may need Kitna down the road.

If I was in last place or even middle of the pack, I might be more likely to accept the trade. But since I'm in first, I'm thinking maybe I just shouldn't mess with things.

I'm trying to make a similar trade in reverse in my league, as I need a tight end. I offered Kitna for Kellen Winslow and upgrades to my backup RB and WR spots.

I think you do it. Kitna isn't really all that great. It sounds like you get negative points and he throws a bunch of picks.

I'd trade a middle of the road at best QB for a decent TE, especially since McNabb is McMONEY so far, and Garrard will play better when the Jags Oline gets healthy and the running game gets going...

Do it!

These are my top two so I think you are in great shape. Like has been said though, I don't think you should give up on Heap and should try to reacquire Olsen. TE is a fickle position for fantasy purposes imo.

It depends on how your league scoring is set up. If your QB gets a point for every passing attempt then Kitna is a pretty good QB to have because of their lack of Defense and running game, they have to throw the ball a lot to stay in games.

pick up seattles tight end. they are dessimated at wr right now, and i think he had something like 8 targets last week for close to 80 yards. if hasselback trusts him, he should get a lot of targets seing how it will take koren robinson some time to get readjusted to playing seahawk football.

You're a Chiefs fan, so no matter what we say, you are gonna do it. I say do it, Gonzales will get his points, Gerrard will get better, while Kitna's mistakes will cost you the two or three times you need to use him.

Actually, I just rejected it. I might regret it later, but I'm not even playing for money in this league--just pride.

Thanks to everybody for the advice!
