It's that time of year again where I ask for advise from the smartest sports fan out there (cyclone fans if I have to tell you)

Anyway, I'm sure I will feel it out who is going to be my stud running backs half way through the year, but since some of these guys are new I thought I'd get your advise.

Which running back would you start alongside Willis MaGahee?

Darren McFadden(rookie)
Johnathan Stewart (rookie)
Chris Perry (Hasn't started since 2006)
Justin Fargas (Shares time with run DMC)

I think they all could have decent years, but who do you think should start week 1?

Opponents
McFadden and Fargas against Denver
Stewert against San Diego
Perry against Bal.

I was leaning toward Perry, but he is going up against a pretty stingy front 7 of the Ravens

God...those are some rough match-ups. I guess I'd go McFadden..?

I would personally go with Ronnie Brown, but that a tough one also. If you are like me you will pick the wrong one every time.

I would also like to know if you would start Ronnie Brown (Miami) or Kevin Smith (Detroit)

Brown is going to share the carries with Ricky Williams, but Smith should get a majority of them since Rudi won't know the O, and Najeh hasn't impressed. So start Smith, and god, do I need to get a life.

And DJK15, I wouldn't start Drew Tate if I were you, because he sucks!

See if you can get Banks on the waiver wire, he has impressed in early flag football practices.

But thanks for the info, I was leaning towards Kevin Smith but I didn't know if he would be directing a movie with Jay this weekend.

Gotta go Perry, Mc Fadden is going to win this poll because there are a lot of non-fantasy players voting.

Perry is the only one not in a timeshare, and McFadden is quite possibly the worst pick: a rook on a bad offense in a timeshare ... VERY dangerous combination.

I would start Perry and McFadden and wait on Mcgahee. I know they say he is going to play, but I think his injury is much worse than they are saying.

As for the other one. Kevin Smith. Rudi Johnson complicates things a bit but I still think he will get more carries than Ronnie Brown

I tend to agree with you, but I could see him doing some very good stuff later in the year.

ugh ... that sucks. Kevin Smith I guess.

Just because Ricky has looked pretty good. But don't expect much from either.

Umm, actually, Perry is in a timeshare with Watson, and he goes up against a much better D than DMC does.

If you base it on last season's stats here is what each defense gave up for rushing yardage per game:

Baltimore: 79.2 yds 9 td
San Diego: 107 yds, 11 td
Denver: 142 yds, 14 td

Last year Oakland was 4th in the league as far as rushing attempts.

Of course it's hard to predict in the first game of the season how much Denver's defense improved or how much Baltimore or San Diego worsened but I would probably give McFadden a shot.

Totally, but you asked for advice on Week 1.

Perry is the answer to that question. Rudi got decent yards even hurt playing in that offense, Perry should get some catches to supplement his point total as well.

Stewart is the starter, but you know Deangelo is going to get some carries, and the Panthers haven't shown the ability to run the ball in over 18 months.

That was my thought as well. McGahee was injured through preseason (he's on my team as well) and I have him benched. It just never seems to work out for me if I start a probable or questionable player.

Kevin Smith. Ronnie's coming off multiple injuries and Ricky Williams is the starter.

I'll second Smith. He should get the majority (or almost all) of the carries for Detroit.

McFadden has more big play abilitiy and likely the only one to see red zone carries of the bunch.

Plus McFadden is likely to get many more receptions as they will be blitzing Russell so he will be looking for quick dumpoffs. Also due to the lack of WR depth in Oakland McF could be lining up a lot in the slot.

Not to mention Al Davis has two #1 draft picks in the game that he is paying A LOT of money too. He is not letting them sit for nothing!
