FAA issues airworthiness certification to Alef flying car.

The problem with flying cars is when they fail, they don't just coast to the shoulder, they drop from the sky. Airplanes and helicopters have extensive maintenance routines and highly trained pilots at the helm to keep them as safe as possible. There is no such thing for self-owned vehicles like this, at least yet. You think getting infrastructure to charge vehicles is difficult, this would be next level.
Great point!. I understand the cost of this is out of the reach of most normal people, so it's not really an immediate concern. When I first saw this though, the first thing that came to mind were all the cars I see on a daily basis that shouldn't even be allowed on the road. Deferred maintenance is fine when all that happens is you are stuck on the side of the road. It's a bit more concerning when you drop out of the sky and plummet to your death and kill anyone below you.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for innovation. I know the first people that saw a car thought, "You are just going to kill people with that thing!" (Not really wrong either) And I think this is so far away from being anything but a toy for the rich, it's not really an issue. It does freak me out a bit though thinking of all the people I see willing to drive a POS car on a donut spare at 70+ mph and what it would be like if they owned a flying car.
