I don't know about anyone else, but for some reason I am the most excited I have been about cyclone football this season than I have been since the Seneca Years. I'm not sure if it's because of the potential of this team in years to come or that we are becoming more a force in the state over EICC. Hopefully my optimistic excitement pays off and the system and the recruits we have brought in over the last few years finally start to show how Cyclone Football should be played.

Having a clear starter at QB who looks decent prolly helps.

Ha this is probably true. I also think having a coaching staff who is striving for more and their recruiting classes are beginning to show that is reassuring. The 90's was a rough decade, ha

I'm excited as always, but I'm not putting huge expectations on this team at all. I do expect us to win 6 games though. If we can't manage to do that...then yikes.

For some inexplicable reason I am actually expecting some above-everyone-else's-expectation performances. Something like the young red shirts coming on strong.

I HATE to bring EIU into the discussion but I'm reminded that in years past when expectations were low, often times results were very good. Maybe it's time for ISU to have a break through year.

I'm excited for the white helmets that were recently announced by an unnamed source on Twitter.

I find the football season kind of like Hangover 3............if i come in with zero expecations, i will be entertained and think it was ok. If i think it was going to make me laugh more than the original - then i will be disappointed. So if we expect 3/4 wins and ISU wins 6, I'll be happy. If I expect 6 wins and ISU wins 4, i will be upset.

P.S. if ISU's wins 8/9 games.........i will be pretty excited for the bowl game.

I do think that Wally will round the D into decent shape. To me, it all depends on a couple of guys. First, Brandon Jensen has to go from OK backup to solid starter. Second, Jevohn Miller needs to up his game dramatically. I think that the secondary will be fine. They should have a decent rotation at DT/NG and at DE. We'll need Coe to come in ready to play some snaps and Irving to step up his game.

On O, IMO it's all about Klenakis getting the OL to play better. If they can open holes, we have the RBs to really do some damage. Richardson can do well if we don't expect him to carry the offense (and Messingham doesn't run him too much). I expect a big year out of Bundrage and Brun.

I hope they can get it done. The coaches can do a lot with a little but to quote Johnny: You gotta have the horses, man!

I'm heading into my 38th year as a Cyclone fan - 38 years!

I get excited because I enjoy college football and especially my 'Clones. I don't get excited because I think this is they year we finally make it to a January Bowl for the first time in history; I've been burned too many times with that hope.

Eventually I get excited for every season, even if we are predicted to do horribly. There is always a potential to do better than people think can happen, and that excites me. CPR always seems to find that potential and make even the losses exciting games to watch.

I await to see what the offense looks like against Iowa.

Too many times have we had a higher bar than we achieved.

30 points a game average is a must. That means a TD each quarter.
