Going to be stranded there with future possible in laws and extended in law'd family. Is it cool at all? Anywhere close to escape to for fun? Please help...
Ever been to Beeds Lake State Park(Hampton, Iowa)?

I grew up in Hampton and unless you go to Mason City or Clear Lake there really isn't much there.
Nothing too exciting at Beed's Lake. Is Willie's Sports Bar still open? There's a good time. 
or you can check out the Mexican grocery store. You can go to the chick flick "The Lucky One" at the movie theater thiS weekend. There is a new aquatic center in town, you can go scope out the locals.
Like pp's have mentioned, your best bet for fun would be Mason City/Clear Lake or even go up to Diamond Joe's casino just about an hour away.

The campgrounds are fairly nice, and they get a good turnout for all holidays. The lake has no fish and is very dirty, but the spillway is cool to see, especially after a heavy rain.
Somebody mentioned Willey's is under new ownership and is now called the Red Moose I think? Not too much to do in Hampton... The Windsor theater is really nice and cheap to go to. Last time I went there it was three dollars per ticket.
