Colorado State?

"Southern Miss coach Larry Eustachy has spoken with Colorado State about its opening and is among the leading candidates to replace Tim Miles at the Mountain West Conference school, multiple sources told CBSSports.com on Wednesday.

A source said the school has also spoken with Weber State's Randy Rahe, New Mexico assistant Craig Neal and two CSU assistants -- Niko Medved and Craig Smith -- about the opening, but Eustachy is the biggest name being seriously considered. He's a former AP National Coach of the Year at Iowa State who led Southern Miss to this season's NCAA tournament.

Miles left CSU last month to become the head coach at Nebraska."

Eh, with Memphis going to the Big East, I can see why he'd want to leave USM but I thought it would be a bigger job than CSU.

Would you rather live in Colorado or Louisana at his stage in life?

Wasn't he at Utah State before he came to ISU?

As I recall, CSU only had 2 or 3 seniors that played for them.

Only 2.
One started at PF, I believe, and averaged 8 ppg. The other came off the bench for 5 ppg.

They could have a pretty solid team next year.

Neither were that good, Bell was hurt most of the year and Sabas is a walk on. They have Colton Iverson (former ISU target that transferred from Minnesota) available next year as well as a 5 star transfer from Arizona. Definitely could/should be better than last year if they can keep everyone else around...

With the Mountain West collapsing that doesn't really seem like a move up.
Larry took over SoMiss--horrible facilities and program, and won in spite of them

Katrina set back improvements and new facilities slated before the Hurricane. A tough gig.

Colo St is a good step...and he can recruit the West Coast, where many students come from. Larry is from LA

CSU to the big 12!

I've been selfishly hoping for this since I moved to Fort Collins.

CSU has recently put increased focus on athletics. Canned their AD and football coach, got a killer hire in Jim McElwain, serious talks of building a new on-campus stadium. I think there are boosters with deep pockets that will see a lot of this through.

My conspiracy theory is that CSU is in talks with the Big 12 about a bid to join the conference, contingent upon building a new stadium.

That said, I agree with other posters, where would you rather live, Miss. or Colorado? I think this would be a pretty easy place to draw recruits, and the MBB team was in the tournament as recently as last year.

Would be a great move for both LE and CSU. LE coached at both Utah St. and Idaho, so he is famillar with the Mountain West area. He would get to go against Alford again....
