Not the best way to start a thread about a great tournament, but Christian Eriksen has collapsed on the pitch and the paramedics have been doing chest compressions on him for several minutes now.

They were doing chest compressions on him and pretty sure they used a dfib on him. I fear the worst.

I can't believe they kept showing it. The commentators seemed oblivious as to what was going on. The first time they showed him he was laying motionless with his eyes wide open. 2-3 minutes later he was still motionless. When they started CPR the commentators just kept jabbering, completely oblivious. I quickly changed the channel at that point.

My daughter and I were watching it. A few shocking things. Where was the ambulance to rush him to the hospital. After they shocked him and all of that why were they all just slowly walking the stretcher out of the stadium.

It looked almost identical to Hank Gathers playing basketball. I don’t think this ends well for Christian.

I think they knew it was pretty serious. Announcers hesitate to speculate on the nature of even common injuries, so I think their awkwardness was a result of them trying to fill time without hyperventilating over a possible life threatening situation. If anything, the producer should have thrown to commercial.

I don’t know why they didn’t get a gator/golf cart/ambulance in there right away. That was odd.

Hopefully he makes it but that didn’t look very promising. Sad and surreal deal.

I'm thinking he did not have a pulse on the pitch and needed to spend immediate time getting him back alive.

Yeah, if the heart has stopped, priority number one is circulating blood and getting the heart started again. You worry about transporting the patient once the heart is beating again.

I can’t imagine what it had to be like to be his family sitting in that stadium or one of his teammates making a circle around him to try to provide some sort of privacy for him while paramedics worked.

And it would have been nice for them to not show his partner on the sidelines. It was really class of the finnish fans though. They gave the Danes one of their large flags so that they could use it as a privacy shield

I don’t think you can play the Belgium v Russia match. Lukaku is a current teammate of Eriksen at Inter and Vertonghen and Alderweireld were longtime teammates at Spurs. There’s no way UEFA should make them play this match today.

I think that him being stable does help this game to go forward.

UEFA saying the Denmark match to be continued tonight. That’s a really bad call IMO. If that’s the case, then you have to think they’re going to go on with the Belgium match as well.
