NFL: ESPN Feature about the Demise of the Patriots Dynasty

Fun read if you hate the Patriots. It'd be crazy to see next season start with either Brady or Belichick not with the team anymore. But why do I get the feeling that this column is nothing more than a prelude to those smug ******** standing on a podium clutching yet another goddamned Lombardi Trophy in a month?

At this point I treat the Pats' run kind of like the KU run in Big 12 basketball. I know it has to end eventually, but I'll believe it when I see it.

People were touting this yesterday as an "explosive" story. Didn't read like it. 3 people at the top of their profession (owner, coach, QB) with big egos - there are going to be MANY little fights and quarrels.

This reads as someone got Jimmy Garappolo and his side to talk...

Both Belichick and Brady have that "my **** don't stink" attitude about them, so it doesn't really surprise me they would eventually differ. Probably a lot of familiarity breeds contempt as well. They've been through a lot for a long time.

Might be. I don't question most of the anecdotes and incidents in the story. I just don't think that most of them are that big of a deal. Tension exists in any major sports organization. Has to with that kind of money and ego on the line. To me this reads like ESPN whipping up a postseason storyline. 48 hours ago I had the Pats as the favorite to win the Super Bowl. This - true or not - doesn't do anything to change my opinion.

Kraft loves Brady for the millions he has made him. Bill is more of 'been there done that'. Wouldn't be surprised to see Belechick take his cut hoodie and move on.
 
Didn't read it but arguably one of the most successful NFL franchises recently, someday it will come to an end, but who really knows when? Probably not some reporter from ESPN.

If Brady does win.....I hope Giselle or someone can get him some grace lessons and maybe deliver a more eloquent speech than "..we're going to bring this Sucker home!!!!" That sucked.

Interesting timing with the playoffs approaching and the NFL being less intriguing every seaaon.

Gee, I wonder if ESPN's 4 hour NFL pregame coverage will talk about it, and if ratings will get a boost for their playoff game.
 
I haven't read the entire article on this but have been listening to Cowherd for the past couple of months talk about the situation there. I like his take on it. Belichick wanted to start building for the future with Jimmy G., knowing that Brady's time is almost up. Kraft told Belichick that Brady is still the guy. What I'm not certain of is whether Kraft told Belichick to trade Jimmy G. or if Belichick did that on his own as a "**** you" to Kraft. The article writer can say what he wants about that (I'll read the whole thing later), but I'm not sure the actual truth will ever come out on that.

I'm guessing Belichick will be retiring soon since Kraft decided to side with Brady. Doubt that Belichick will risk tarnishing his legacy by going to another team and failing.

The little bit I've read, I agree with that take. Belichick isn't exactly sentimental from what I can tell, and is all about being prepared. He knows that Brady is going to lose it at some point, and when it happens, it's going to happen fast. He's trying to setup the future, even if that means the hard decisions. Brady probably doesn't want to admit (or might not be able even to admit) that he's only got a couple of years (max) left. I honestly think Brady might not be able to just hang it up when he should, and will try to keep playing longer than he should.
 
Crazy stories about the Patriots always come out when the playoffs roll around. I swear it is the Patriots doing to screw with the minds of their opponents.

Don’t be surprised to see another Patriots Super Bowl.
 
Wonder why? All three are at retirement age in their respected line of work. Lets not forget they did win the Super Bowl last year, and will probably repeat. Must be a slow news week.
