NFL: Ellis Hobbs speaks out

I agree, but at the same time the Pats D is weak. Its unacceptable to let a team like Miami DOMINATE you at home.

But why didn't he say Iowa State instead of his high school...wait, sorry...wrong discussion.

At least he's not afraid to speak his mind. Go get 'um E.

Does he have a point? Certainly.

Should he be far more upset about getting waxed by the Dolphins than getting booed? Duh.

Spoiled fans and spoiled players.

If it's just a game, why are players getting paid so much money?

You do realize how much money those players bring to the NFL right? They make billions and billions of dollars for their company...they deserve to be highly compensated.

As for the Hobbs' comments...what is more embarrassing, being booed or getting waxed by the Dolphins? My guess is the latter.

You can't blame E, he's probably having nightmares that he got stuck playing for Iowa. BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

They are getting paid a lot of money to do a job (Beat the other team). Spoiled fans or not, when you don't do your job, especially against one of the worst teams the last 5 years, you deserve to hear some boos. Booing is something I always reserve for the pros. I feel it never has a place in college sports as most of these kids will never get paid for what they are doing on the field or the court. In the pros though. If you don't like the boos, get better or find another job.

In the era of free agency, often the fans have more "invested" in the team than do the players.

As an example, you can still see Randy Moss jerseys at the Metrodome. Randy's come and gone, but the Vikings fans are still there. Who has more right to display their passion for their team?

Suspect youi will see a few more Pat losses this year. Matt Cassel or however you spell his name is a Brody Coyle in the making.

He cannot be very good if they never let him throw downfield to Randy Miss.

Perfectly said.

Players should never comment on fans' booing as far as I'm concerned. Millionaire babies.

In the comments a guy mentioned that Ellis had more to say and it got left out of the article.

Actually, if MJD had followed the whole interview, Hobbs said as much:

“They pay (for) their ticket. They can say what they want to say,” he said. “They expect the best out of us, which is good. When you have people with high expectations of you, you tend to meet those expectations.”

If they were in the midst of a 20 game losing streak, I could understand the booing, If they were fans of the Bengals or Lions, I could understand the booing. It just says how many bandwagon fans the Pats do have, because the longtimers remember the lean years.

Do I think there are a lot of spoiled athletes out there? Absolutely. But as was said on Around The Horn last night, Bostonians at this point seem to think that wins and championships are now their God-given right, especially with the performances of the Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox lately.

This is the Patriots' second loss in something like the last 21 games, and their first at home in who know's how long. Granted, they lost to a team that won only one game last year and doesn't appear THAT much better this year. But you're going to boo them as if they're mired in the middle of an 8-8 season? You stay classy, Boston.

Just for the record, I do think that Hobbs was out of line as well. Players making millions of dollars to play a kid's game should have a little bit thicker of a skin when it comes to booing. Basically, I think this is a situation where everyone is in the wrong.

Patriots fans have unrealistic expectations of their team after the past few years. It's about time they got a reality check. Time for the Pats to be on the outside of the playoff picture.

Gotta love EH3... but maybe he should be less worried about the fans and more worried about getting steam rolled into the endzone vs Miami

True, but I think this is true for the players as well. Seriously, they have been good for so long that I believe even the players forget what it's like to not look like a championship team every week. Think about the Bears, the Vikings. Those teams take boos every week. Hell, I've been at Bears games where Rex Grossman was getting bood and the Bears were winning. I think everyone in Boston needs a reality check. Then again, I'm a Cyclone/Vikings fan. I tend to focus on the reality of sports.

This reminds me of when people complain about TO or Ocho Cinco.... IF you just stop them then no worries.

The Pats D looked like a marginal college defense. If they don't want to hear the boos then Hobbs and everyone on the D needs to man up!
