Hey all, need some electric dryer recommendations as ours took a crap on us. Any good experiences/bad experiences with brands/models you can give would be appreciated!

That’s what we’re using at the moment… unfortunately it isn’t an option year round.
Yea I know. I don’t have any recommendations since I’ve always rented and just take what I get.

Growing up the GE top load dryer from the 90s we had was a lot better than the newer LG side load dryer right before I left for college in 2011. The GE one just gave out after so many years and I remember my dad complaining about the LG until he died

We just got a new Maytag. Works fine. I would think most brands would be fine. Biggest issue would probably be life expectancy. Also keep the electrical cord from the old one if you can. When they delivered ours found out the cord was separate and an additional $ 30. We could have taken the cord from the old one if we had known that.

My wife wants a speed queen washer and dryer, but we haven’t bought them yet
We remodeled our laundry room recently and went with speed queen. The washer is amazing. The dryer is fine. I really don’t notice a huge difference from the speed queen dryer and our last one (can’t remember the brand), but the washer is crazy good.

What makes it good? I've heard they're dependable, but what else?

We switched from a front load to top load so that’s probably part of it but a couple of things. First, the washer cycle takes 28-30 minutes compared to 55 minutes on our old one. Two, no mold on the top load. And while we’ve only had it for six months, all the research I did said it will last a long long time. Also, I don’t need my washing machine to have wifi and weird features that I won’t use. This is simple and gets the clothes clean. Expensive but worth it imo.

Pop for Maytags. Had my first set for almost 40 years, and they still ran when I replaced them this spring (like having to retire your favorite Model-T).

Maytag 40 years ago is not Maytag today. We are have a set that is 12 years old (and that I’ve repaired multiple times thanks to YouTube) and are shopping. The sales guy was stunned that they still ran, and said life expectancy of (all) new washers is 5 years. If I could find a 40-year-old Maytag, I might buy it.

This is the desire behind the Speed Queens. Built like they were before. No complicated electronics and sensors that go bad.

I started going to Harps Outlet (scratch and dent) as they have LG. I bought an LG electric dryer with a tiny dent on the back of it for $400 last summer. Works great. I have bought several appliances there and they all work well. I replaced a washer that was eight years about two years ago as well. I am not sure where you’re located, but they have a Des Moines and Fort Dodge stores. I imagine the prices have gone up with inflation.

No, ya wouldn't, unless you enjoy your machines dancing across the floor during the spin cycle.

My appliance repair guy likes Speed Queen.
Mine doesn't...he's lonely with the Speed Queens. Actually, only the classic Speed Queen washer line is like this. They have a newer line that does not appear to be as reliable.

We've had good luck over the years buying stuff on the cheap at the Best Buy scratch/dent outlet in an industrial park in Eden Prairie, MN.
