Drain the Lake

Seems awful silly considering people dont drink the water that sits out there. It gets treated first anyway.

8 million gallons for 16 oz or less from this guy. I agree that it's silly. How many bugs and other things just as bad were in the water before that.

Apparently you missed this: "The water that's in the reservoir that you see is literally the water that you drink," Leonard said.

"There are people who will say it’s an overreaction,†he said. “I don’t think so. I think just dealing with the ‘yuck factor,’ I can imagine how many people would be saying, ‘I made orange juice with that water this morning. That’s not what I want to hear.’ â€

And City Commissioner Randy Leonard told CNN affiliate KGW-TV that the water in the Mount Tabor reservoir is chlorinated before it enters the reservoir.

"The water that's in the reservoir that you see is literally the water that you drink," Leonard said.

Those two quotes from the article tell me everything. This is the most stupid idea ever. The drinking water just sits there exposed to the elements? Moronic is an understatement.

Um..... Is it literally? That seems hokey if you can basically go get a bucket and drink the **** from that pool.

Yep. The picture shows it is open at the top. Looks like a big, run-down swimming pool, with no diving board.

If the water is untreated before being sent out to the masses, one guy peeing is the least of your concerns.

there are a lot of people las vegas, nm that would love that water origon wasted. They have been using waste water for all their non-potable chores for weeks, as well as watching their bathing usage because their wt plant is only 10% of what it should be

I wonder what would happen if someone threw a Baby Ruth into that reservoir...

"It's really an unfortunate incident that probably could have been avoided had he chosen a bush," Simpson said.

or how about it could have been avoided if they didn't have an open pit storage facility for apparently treated water. I can't see how this could be acceptable, a guy peeing in it would be the least of my concerns.

Not until it is treated. That resevoir is an open lake for crying out loud. The water I drink comes from the Missouri. You don't think all manner of creature including people pee in it? Silly waste of money and gross mismanagement.

OT: Hopefully the Army Corps increasing of the flow from Gavin's Pt. doesn't flood you guys out too much on the Iowa side of the Missouri. I'm across the river on the other side, hoping that the flood goes down and some of the roads reopen across the river before football season.

I think it would be cheaper to put a roof over it, like those hoop buildings.

If you honestly think that there is no chemical treatment that occurs from the time it sits outside in this uncovered pool you might want to think again.
