Zambrano kinda let his tongue slip yesterday and mentioned that he would like to see wrigley go away and have the cubs get a new stadium like new yankee stadium...

I know that saying that is kinda like saying lets tear down the Vatican in some people's eyes but what do all of you think?

I mean Wrigley is old.... it isnt like the cubs have had incredible success there, so i understand that it could go and everything would probably be fine.

I personally dont want it to go away... ive been there and it an awesome place. If they did replace it, it would have to be one hell of a ballpark the build and they would HAVE to have an Ivy wall still.

anyway what do all of you think about the cubs moving out of wrigley???

I am a Cardinals fan so take what I say for what it's worth to you. You guys havn't won a World Series in Wrigley Field's existence so I don't think a change is necessary.

I can see them replacing the stadium minus the bleachers section. They need new skyboxes, clubhouses and ceilings that won't fall on fans heads.

Being a Cubs fan I would be OK with this, but do NOT touch any part of the bleachers, scoreboard or ivy.

Whether people like it or not Wrigley isn't going to last forever. I would personally love a new stadium but that probably won't happen. Maybe play at US Cellular for a year and do major renovations to it. Like get new restrooms because we know how much fun it is to pee in troughs.

i mean i know he retracted his statement, but he still said it. The more i think about this, the more i think it needs to go. it is soooo old and they could build a kick *** stadium.... we will see

I am not a Cubs fan, but it would be a shame to see it go. I'm sure the new ball park would have some lame corporate name too.

Verizon Park at Wrigley, etc, etc, etc.

I just hope they build it in the exact same spot, same specs, everything. Just with more of the modern amenities, normal walking clearance, etc.

I would love to watch the politics and under the table deals that would happen if this ever happen, it would be a complete zoo!

If the city got awarded the 2016 olympics, I wonder if it would happen then.

even a renovation would be good.... like i said though. that Ivy wall needs to stay and id probably like to see the scoreboard stay non-electronic...

Yep, its probably not possible but I would like them to knock down everything but the outfield wall, bleachers and scoreboard. Everything else needs to be rebuilt.

They would sure need more room around the area, be it a major rennovation or a re-build. Some streets closed, and lots of buildings condemned and torned down.

I know it has history, it's a landmark, etc. I'm not sure I disagree with him though. I can't help but think, every time I go there, what a dump it is compared to other ballparks around the country. I don't think they'll ever get rid of it, there's no room down there to build another one. So, my guess is one of these days they'll break down and do a total revamp of the place. I really don't see the big deal. That stadium has changed quite a few times since it's initial build back in 1916. I could see keeping the outfield wall and the bleachers and pretty much rebuilding everything else.

It'd be interesting with the mayor, governor and president all being Sox fans.

Innovation and changes are not necessarily bad when tradition remains. Significant renovations to Wrigley Field would not be a bad thing. I'll admit that you guys have a good following and will support your team regardless of what is done or not done with Wrigley.

I'll preface my statement by saying I'm neither a Cubs fan nor am I even much of a baseball fan, period. That said, Wrigley Field is AWESOME. Went there last summer for a friend's bachelor party, and we sat in the bleachers. The whole atmosphere is great, and it's anicent nature definitely adds to the charm. I would be on board w/a renovation for sure, where they could revamp and improve some of the structural aspects, add some amenities, etc. But to build a different stadium, rename it, change the location, etc, etc would just be wrong. It's a unique experience in modern sports, especially at the professional level. So many new ball parks are completely devoid of any kind of personality, and it's a shame.
