Doug McDermott

McDermott is a MUCH better High School basketball player right now as a junior than Marsden or Thompson ever was...doesn't have the size or athleticism to be a high major prospect though.

There was an article about Doug online, I will try to find it and post it, but it was saying that a year ago he and his dad had to completely rework his game, as he had grown a few inches and put on some weight. The article was saying he wasn't done growing yet. IMO if he grows at all he is a major prospect, he plays hard and it is pretty obvious he is smart.

He's not on par with Marsden or Thompson as a prospect quite yet. That's not to say his career won't be better....

He's a mid major prospect at this point.

Yeah, he's not "on par" with Marsden or Thompson...he's probably better. Just doesn't have their size (yet?)

Doug has shown good athleticism, a good stroke, a great knack for the ball, and just overall always seems to be where he needs to be. Assuming he grows, I want him to be a Cyclone someday...

He'd fit right in with the current team dynamic then.
Nice. I think Doug could be a good player for us if he grows a couple more inches and adds a lot of strength but otherwise he'll probably just contribute a little off the bench late in his career.

I have actually heard the opposite. Not trying to spread rumors, but I've heard a lot of talk about how these two don't like each other.

I actually have a son in the junior class at AHS and one of the special things about this high school class is there are very, very few personal dislikes amongst the entire class. Most of the athletes across sports get along very well. There are clicks, but they are very fluid and not nearly as strong as at high schools in larger towns.

I have had the opportunity to see these guys interact away from the field and away from the court quite a bit and I hvae no reason to believe your post.

Saw both McDermott and Dykstra play in the last two days. They both have a lot of potential. They, of course, are not at Barnes' level of play, but they are the two best players I have seen so far in the tournament.

agree, much better prospect than AT or RM. However, if he grows, he has the athleticism to be a major prospect and for sure pick up an offer from ISU. He has a feel for the game that a lot of players do not have...
