New Orleans Saints crack top 5 in NFL Power Rankings - Don Banks - SI.com

Thoughts:

New England at number 1? Didn't they need a miracle to beat the Bills?

Ravens at number 4? The Chiefs gave them everything they could handle. He ranked them 28th.

Chargers at 9? They owe their win to that gift that the refs gave them with the overturned TD catch.

I realize it's early in the season, but it doesn't appear that Don Banks actually watched any games this weekend.

GB at #3? I'll admit GB could be good this year, but whole this list is terrible!

Another reason to miss Dr. Z. Say what you will about him but I always appreciated his top team being the defending champion until they were either defeated or something horrible happened.

"Minnesota Vikings (1-0) - Rank #12

I'm not ready to bump the Vikings way up my board based on a win over the bottom-feeding Browns. Minnesota actually trailed at halftime before it remembered the game plan this year is to give Adrian Peterson the ball."

And...The Pats were kicking the Bills *** until what? The last 40 seconds of the game? Riiiiiiight.

Minnesota is a top 10 right now, at the very least.

Not sure I agree with the love for the Saints. Yes, we're all aware they're going to be able to put up points this year, but they gave up a lot of points last week, and we're talking about a lot of points to the Lions. What happens when they go up against a team with a pulse?

This list is terrible! The Vikings are a top 10 team, the Titans gave the Steelers a great game and should be ranked higher, the Cowboys looked way better than 15th, Jacksonville played Indy close and they're sitting at 27, Washington and the Giants both played great and for some reason the G-men are 6 and the Redskins are 26?!? Don Banks should start looking for a new job.

so much for the Patriots being at the top of the list. He'll probably drop them down to 3rd or 4th. :jimlad:

It'll be curious to see if he keeps the Titans in the top 10, despite their 0-2 start.

Do you really think the Chargers aren't a top ten team? A lot of other rankings have them even higher.

They're in top half of the league, but if the Monday night game is any indication, then no, they are not top 10. Their run D was flat out terrible, and not likely to get better with the loss of Jamall Williams for the season.

Did you watch the game? Their run defense looked horrible for the first quarter. They made adjustments and looked pretty good the rest of the game. The Williams injury will hurt, but every team has to deal with injuries.

I absolutely watched the game. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I thought the Chargers were very lucky to get out of their Monday game with a win.

#1 and #3 lost to bad teams...

I'm guessing New Orleans goes to number 1 after this week. Baltimore and Atlanta will be up there as well. Tennessee and San Diego will likely drop out of the top 10. That's what should happen. But who knows?

This list was very questionable, Green Bay at #3...lol. The Bears play absolutely awful and GB still barely pulled that one out. They have a nice defense but the offense has some work to do.

I'm so tired of the Patriots mystique.

For all intesive purposes, they should be 0-2 right now.

That being the case - my Steelers didn't exactly entrench themselves in that #2 slot today.....

How many of that top 10 lost today. 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 - with 6 still playing and down 1.

Looks like a wide open year in the NFL, kids..

The Vikings haven't played anybody worth noting yet, but they're solid everywhere & are definitely a top 10 team, probably top 5.
