NFL: Dolphins sign Garrard

The front office is just stupid and every athlete knows it. They truly know nothing about football and should just retire with the money that they have.

Photoshop some 'Fins logo and that's where I am.

One year to tank it and draft Barkley. Sounds about right. Who else were they gonna seriously sign?

Manning wasn't interested, and not sure I am sold on Flynn making that kind of cash.

We really missed the boat when we passed on Brees. Other than that we haven't really had any franchise QBs fall to us in the draft.

We have tried free agents, and later round QBs. We just haven't been in a position to get that top QB talent in the draft.

My problem with the whole situation is that the front office now understands how important it is to find a "Franchise QB", after something like 10 QB since Marino. We tried the method of average QB with star RBs, WRs, and defensive players, and it hasn't worked.

Dolphins need a great QB that makes the other average players look good (Manning, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Brady, Brees... even Eli, Matt Ryan, Vick, and Romo are decent).

How do you want them to get this done? Get rid of a ton of picks to move up in the draft for an unknown commodity? When we had the #2 pick, there was no good QB's. Other than that we have always been in the 8-15 Range, who have we missed on in Round 1 that became a franchise level QB?

Maybe Matt Ryan? But he hasn't been super successful yet. Aaron Rodgers? He fell to the 24th pick, so not sure you can argue that.

I know we have missed on some other players (Ted Ginn, Pat White).

It is really hard to get a franchise QB. Now missing on Drew Brees is unacceptable in my opinion, but other than that, not sure what you want them to do differently.

We've got an owner that says he's going to make big splashes with a new coach and a QB. Although I think Philbin may be a good coach, neither were a splash. He set the expectation and failed. Instead, traded Marshall (albeit for good reason), cut Bell, and added Garrard. To me, we took a step backwards. The only big splash we can hope for now is in the draft, and I don't trust Ireland to do that. I would like to see them trade up to get Blackmon (don't see that happening), and wait for next years QB class. I don't think Tannehill can be a franchise QB. If we whiff in this years draft, Ireland has to go.

Yea! Take that says Jeff Ireland and Stephen Ross! Signing Garrard totally makes up for the attempts at Jim Harbaugh, Peyton Manning, Matt Flynn, Alex Smith, RGIII or Brandon Marshall. Can't believe we came up with such a steal!

How has this front office not been wiped clean?

I actually like the move. You turned down Flynn because his asking price was too high. Alex Smith is not the answer...give Matt Moore another year, sign Garrard and probably pick Tannehill.

I agree with this. I don't want Tannehill either.

I am OK taking a solid lineman with our current pick, and trying to get a QB in the draft next year.

Blackmon would be nice, as long as we don't overpay in draft picks.
