Does the big 12 always play higher ranked teams in bowl games?

I am curious. It seems like all big 12 teams play a higher ranked team in bowl games...
and most SEC teams play lower ranked teams in their bowl games.. I am not sure about other conferences and how they get matched....
Has anyone studied the stats as to how each conference gets matched up in bowl games for the last few years? I would love to see how balanced it is across each conference.

It also seems like the refereeing in big 12 games seems to go pretty fair until the Big 12 team gets up and then the questionable calls come out getting the higher ranked team back in the game....

Am I just biased and only seeing what I want to believe.. or does the stats show this?

Just biased. If anything, playing a higher ranked team and beating them would show the dominance of the big 12.

Getting a team in the CFP moves everyone up a slot.

AND, having bowl committees prefer Iowa State fans travel record over other teams contributes as well.

I understand the desire to beat the higher ranked teams and I understand that teams in the CFP move teams up.
But...
SEC has a team in the CFP so in theory things should balance out.
If every SEC team plays an opponent ranked many positions below them, It will most likely end up in their favor overall.
It seems they get to brag about wins.. without showing that they don't play teams ranked above them.
That's why I was hoping someone had stats showing if it really is a high percentage stacked that way.

Based on what I saw, they should have had two.

Big 12 goes round robin so half of the league has an extra scheduled loss. Plus round robin means there are going to be teams beating on each other a little and losses equal drops in rankings. Also a factor, when a Big 12 team loses, they tend to drop quite a few spots more than if a Big 10 team or and SEC team loses. This is for no other reason than bias.
