Does Baylor Cheat?

i remember posting in this thread and saying baylor cheats... guess what. BAYLOR CHEATS.

Haha. I wonder if the Baylor fans will still come on here to defend Scott Drew?

Welp, this sucks.

I have defended Drew on this site a few times, so I am here to take my lumps if anyone wants to dish.

That said, if this is all that came out of a 29 month investigation, the NCAA really didn't have too much. I doubt most, if any programs, wouldn't turn up a few impermissible calls and texts over a four year period. The fact that we had so many is pretty concerning though.
Not really going to try to defend Drew in this, but I must say, it sounds like our compliance dept was pretty gawd-awful if they weren't able to monitor phone calls.

Too many phone calls and texts isn't a big deal to me, and I don't think it takes away from the success of your teams. If this investigation doesn't turn up anything else, I hope the NCAA doesn't add much to the self-imposed sanctions.

A coach who is relentlessly positive (which trust me, it annoys Baylor fans sometimes too because he pumps so much sunshine), outworks most other coaches in the country on the recruiting trail (see Ricardo Gathers' quotes as the latest example), was already a great recruiter prior to coming to Baylor (consecutive top 25 classes at Valpo), and a whole lot of blind hope.
I couldn't resist commenting on this after the impermissible phone calls they have found. Easy to outwork people if you aren't using the same restrictions as other coaches

Yeah, I guess I'm going to have to eat some crow there. Turns out he was outworking people by calling when he wasn't supposed to (although it looks like most of the phone calls were made by assistants).

What's interesting is that most of the things we got busted for (texts, phone calls, emails, etc) are becoming legal this summer. The NCAA is in the process of removing all of the restrictions around contacting recruits.

No doubt. It's still a violation. I'm not arguing the charges should be dismissed because of that. I just think it's worth noting. We'll see if the NCAA thinks that our self-imposed sanctions are enough, I guess.

not quite... but its up there. along with those 2 bowls of captain crunch i devoured.

Switch out the captain for reeses puffs and i would call that a pretty solid day.

Edit: and by solid i mean best.....day....ever.

With only 7 official visits instead of 12, I'm wondering what your hard working coaches and boosters are going to do with all their extra time and money.:jimlad:
