Does Baylor Cheat?

I believe the NCAA has an open inquest per one of the linked articles so we aren't the only ones wondering and with the amount of talent they bring in to that crap-hole and how much drew is disliked by the other coaches in the big 12 there's obviously smoke around the situation.

Because we have seven top 100 recruits in the past 9 years? It's not like we've pulled in UK-type classes. We can get into this if you really want to...

And the rest of the conference below us and some above are asking that about CFH. Program run in the ground for half a decade and in year 2 under CFH they're a tournament team? Most of us even thought it would take a couple more years. CFH must cheat.

Not at all. Anyone who follows college basketball and is familiar with ISU is aware that Hoiberg took a risk on signing multiple transfers. Some of which were labeled troublemakers. I don't know many people who didn't think that this team had the potential to make the tournament going in to the season.

ISU had something to offer: Second chances and playing time. ISU also took a risk on those guys and had wait a year of valuable schollys when they sat out.

Baylor had nothing to offer, was in the worst shape of basically any program ever in basketball, coming off of a murder scandal, being a bottom dweller for years, and then just starts pulling in ridiculous talent. Other coaches in the league are critical of their recruiting methods.

That's the difference.

Yes, because Baylor didn't have playing time to offer when we had 3 scholarship players after the Dennehy-Dotson scandal. You're right, ISU is the only rebuilding school that could offer playing time to overlooked players or transfer guys.

You are right that BU had playing time to offer but what else was on that list?

A coach who is relentlessly positive (which trust me, it annoys Baylor fans sometimes too because he pumps so much sunshine), outworks most other coaches in the country on the recruiting trail (see Ricardo Gathers' quotes as the latest example), was already a great recruiter prior to coming to Baylor (consecutive top 25 classes at Valpo), and a whole lot of blind hope.

This is dumb...This whole thread is dumb...

My God, it isn't like Baylor has ANY pull with the NCAA. ******, they were in a worse boat than we were with the realignment stuff...

IF you actually think was that they could get away with blatant cheating after losing a non conference season because of a MURDER, then you are brilliant...

The reason Barnes, and the rest are ****** off at Drew is because he has taken players they felt entitled to.

Does he blur the ethical lines, **** yeah, but so does EVERY other coach in the country, including Freddie. Even Chewy cheated while doing it the "right" way...

Don't let them get to you man...They are wrong on this...Just butt hurt that we decided not to guard you tonight.

We've been told to "just wait" for a while now. It's been nine years. How much longer are we going to have to wait?

Depends. Just ask yourself this. If you were the 7th rated recruit in the nation. What would make you choose baylor, a team with no tradition, over Duke and Louisville? Im telling you, just wait.

I could ask myself that, or I could ask Quincy Miller. Here's what he said:
"On my visit it was a family atmosphere and coach Drew is an honest guy," said Miller. "When I would call him after games he would tell me what I did well and also what I needed to work on. I like that."

He also said that Drew was the first coach to contact him when the dead period ended, and that Drew was the first guy in the gym when he played, the last guy out, and he always made it a point to be there himself, rather than just sending an assistant. We can go round and round all day on this.

They have got to be doing something. I don't understand how a team that is perennially terrible with the **** poor fan support they have, suddenly become a powerhouse in mbb, wbb, and fball. They have got to have the worst or near worst attendance numbers in all of the bcs. I just don't understand what Baylor has to sell other than location?

Really...Baylor has pulled in two top 10 recruits in the last two years. Don't compare McDoormat to that ********. Baylor may be completely on the up and up, but I think we all would be just as suspicious if ISU pulled in two top 10 recruits in 2 years. Don't be such an ***

blah blah blah quote quote quote. Baylor was the first school to send the check in the mail. It'll come out in a couple years after all these kids go pro and everyone will forget about it. baylor cheats.

Well crap, how does any team that's not a historical blueblood ever become good at anything?

In Baylor's case, for the first time since they've joined the Big 12, has an administration that understands the importance of fielding competitive athletic teams. They also have loyal, big money alumni donors that can fund facilities at a level the is commiserate with other major BCS programs, hired a great trio of coaches in those three sports, and caught lightning in a bottle to an extent with RG3 and our Elite 8 run in MBB a few years ago.
