DJK in trouble with the law.

YAWN.... surprise surprise...
any bets if it costs KF his job??

no but it may validate why hes been hard on him if DJK is prone to making dumb choices.....with this being the cherry on top......most people were on DJKs side in the Ferentz deal.....how things change

edit...beat me to it.

Where am I supposed to be going after clicking the first link?

If DJK is involved, I wonder how many other squakeyes are involved as well? Time for some drug tests on all of U of I's players methinks, and someone needs to make sure they don't try to pull an oil change.

In Iowa City!? Ha, yeah right. Maybe...but the results wont be back for a few years.

Hmmmmmmmm.

Isn't it amazing that the Iowa City Police were able to mount an investigation so quickly, ................ and just AFTER the football season was completed, sans the bowl game.
(Maybe they couldn't wait THAT long.)
I would have thought it would have taken weeks just to get all of their evidence and warrants together.

Just my opinion, of course.

At least we know why he wasn't allowed to talk to the media now

I've got to give props to hawkeye shill/HN poster "tiberius" in one of the many meltdown threads over at HN right now:

"I have to stand up for Kirk here. A few years ago he didn't know his son was living in government subsidized housing, so how would he be expected to know a star player was living with a drug dealer?"

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand that, my friends, is my problem with Kirk Ferentz. He's glossed by Miller and the rest of the Kirk Apostles as The Great One, but when something goes wrong in the program it's all "He couldn't be expected to know that".

The leading wide reciever in Iowa History has turned out to be an (alleged) drug dealer who tested positive for pot AND cocaine when he was taken into custody. Great legacy there, Kirk. Barry Switzer called, and he wants his "lack of institutional control" back.

Fat lot of good that will do. DJK has been in the program for five years. Think this is the first drug test he's failed? Maybe it's the first drug test that was administered by someone who didn't have a vested interest in keeping him on the field?

If I were the president of the University of Iowa, I'd get an independent testing agency in there ASAP and demand that EVERY scholarship athlete, walk-on, grad assistant, manager, employee of the athletic department and member of the coaching staff submit to an immediate drug test or hit the road. Otherwise this is going to linger and cast a shadow over anyone associated with the program.

The rumor on HN is that DJK has been in the doghouse over the past 3 years because he declined to take drug tests. Players are allowed to decline one for schedule conflicts, but he allegedly did it repeatedly. So he's avoided positive tests that way, and that's why he's been at odds with KF (again, this is just a rumor, TIFWIW).
