I know it is still April and there are a ton of games left, but I feel like this could be a very disappointing season for the Twins. They have been outscored 68-39 over 11 games and are already two games behind. Here's to hoping they can get the bats going, because it appears they are going to have to score a bunch of runs to win.

They will be fine. They just need to get healthy. Not having Mauer there is huge.

Wow! A buddy of mine and I at work were kidding about overreacting to the Cubs 5-4 start. We kidded about The Official Site of The Chicago Cubs | cubs.com: Homepage (which takes you to the Cubs website, btw), and jumping up and down screaming about how he's lost touch and all that.

Seriously, it's not good to jump to conclusions in the 2nd week of baseball season. Over 150 games to go, and that's a looooooooong season.

April just really hasn't been their month lately...and once they get Mauer back...that will be a big help

2008: 13-14 on May 1 (88-74 T-1st)
2006: 9-16 on May 1 (96-66 1st)

Plus, just figure it the way I am...they have a 13-3 or 14-2 stretch coming up in June when they play interleague...so they're really 17-10 right now:wink:

I am not trying to over react, but unfortunately I was hyped by ESPN to believe that the AL Central was the Twins' to lose. With high expectations, I am a little disapointed with the start. Don't get me wrong though I understand that it is a long season and I will be cheering them along the whole way!

I'm bummed too, but they'll be fine. Gardy gets the most out of them.

I'm not too worried about the hitting, that will come around.

What does concern me is the pitching. The only starter that appears to have anything is Perkins, of all people. Liriano looked all right last night, but that was his first good start.

I hope they turn it around. Could just be that the young pitching staff really needs Mauer behind the plate to call the game, or at least the confidence of having him back there.

I think the pitching will be ok. Most of the staff are location guys, and they haven't quite found their groove yet. It is hard to read too much into 2 outings from a pitcher.
Mauer is leaving a huge hole in the lineup as well. HOpefully Gomez will find his bat again too.

What concerns me about the Twins is the fact that they have no patience at the plate. Too many guys are just hacking up there including Morneau. Once they settle down at the plate, I think they will score more.

The pitching will come around. Some pitchers start out slow.

The Twins are 4-7. That's only 11 games. There are 151 left. I think you're overreacting a little.

Would you freak out if your favorite NFL team had 1 bad game out of the 16 they've played? Probably not. At this point in the season, that's the analogy here. The Twins still have 94% of the season left.

I am not sure if the Twins will win the Central as I worry about the Indians and Tigers, but we will see.

Liriano has has 2/3 good starts. He gave up 4 runs on opening day, but it was on 4 hits. Unfortunately 2 were home runs. Perkins has looked good. Hopefully Baker was just shaking the rust off. Slowey should come around.

Getting Mauer back will help. Sounds like he's coming along nicely.

I think they will be fine. Get Mauer back that will help the pitching staff and offense a little bit more. They really need to decide on an outfield. Span needs to play but with Gomez,Young ,Cuddy and Kubel they aren't getting enough at bats to get into a flow. Surprised the DFA Humber thou today

My Cards are off to a great start, but I am not about to make playoff plans. Jesus people, it's APRIL!!! It's great to have baseball back so we got something other than Iowa State's problems to talk about, but give it time. Twins will be right there in it down the stretch.
