Did this guy go too far with a telemarketer ?

I don't see anything wrong with what he did. When it comes to telemarketers and any discomfort they can be given I'm all for it.
I place them in the same category as child molesters in terms of people that should be taken out of society.

Is it that hard to just ignore junk mail? Apparently it is, for this guy.

We all get junk mail....apparently this guy thought he was the only one who had to deal with it.

I worked telemarketing once in college, absolutely hated it but great beer money. A guy went off on one of my coworkers really bad one time, so he took down his name and address (we had more information than that like ss# credit card #) and went to the HyVee magazine section and took all the subscription cards he could find with "bill me later" as an option and sent them to the guy.

You should be in jail for what you did before this guy.

I am on a "do not call" list and they still call.

This. I worked telemarketing for several years and was a QA Analyst that had to monitor calls. Most of the employees were very polite and informative. The calls only got ugly based off of the potential customers being jackasses. If you don't like telemarketers then so be it but you don't have to be an ******* about it. Remember that quite a few of these people that call you are kids who are using this job with "good" hours to pay there way through college.

I just pull the old "I'm busy now but I'll call you back later. What's your home number? Oh you can't give that out? Don't want to be bothered at home? Now you know how I feel. *click*"

I am on the "do not call" list also but still get calls. If a telemarketer calls my house and asks for me I just say "hang on a minute, I'll get him" and put the phone down and leave it till they get bored and hang up.

I'm ok with that until I start getting calls over and over (often in the same day or couple of days) from the same company after they have told me 'yes we'll take you off our calling list'. Well if you had you wouldn't be calling me again, so now it's game on!

That is likely because you have a small business, if you are on the dnc list but then advertise your number in the yellow pages the list won't do you any good.

That was you? Hey thanks, I still subscribe to Cat Fancy.

Yes, they are annoying, but I will never berate anyone that works an honest (I use that term loosely) job and works hard to try to make a living.

See, they run multiple lists. Being taken off of one list doesn't take you off of every list.

You don't think they became a billion-dollar industry without learning some tricks, do you?

I am also on the BS no call list but they still call. Usually the caller Id gives you a pretty good idea if it is a telemarketer. Sometimes I will pick up and act as if I can't hear them. It's pretty funny how frantic they sometimes get when they talk and think you aren't hearing them.

LOL, oh yeah I'm very aware of how it works. Many companies I've worked for have even sold different list that get out there.
If they want to be dishonest and say they'll never call me again and do however then I have all the confirmation I need that they are low life bottom feeders and will try to have some fun before the call is over.

One of my favorites is to see how many different people from that call center I can get on the phone during one call. It usually ends when I ask something like tell me how your extended warranty actually works. Tell me where my money will go when I send it to you....
Another good one is: who is your CEO? Or where are your company headquarters? :biglaugh:

Either that or the telemarketing company or "one of their affiliates" has a "business relationship" with you allowing them to bypass the do not call list.

I am trying to find away to get rid of my mail box and shut down my mail. If something is important they can call or shoot me an email (which filters out crap).

Its only junk mail if you don't want it.

I always speak Spanish when they call, so they call back with a Spanish telemarketer 5 minuets later then I say I don't speak Spanish in English when the Spanish telemarketer calls. Than they call back again with someone speaking English and I speak Spanish. It's really funny.
