that we were still in this game (regardless of the 16 points we spotted Texas) until the Personal Foul for roughing the QB near the end of the half?

For coming out and playing like complete squirrels, we were STILL in the game until this penalty when we seemed to revert to playing scared.

Final question: Do we not teach or coach form tackling at ISU??? Who on the staff is in charge of this? Can we work on this over the summer? Hell, I'll go up there and work with them if they will let me.

I was thinking the same thing. My brother has season tix at texas..he was at the iowa vs. Illinois game (hawkeye grad) because he has no respect for ISU and thought that it would be a blowout.I was really really looking forward to giving him some serious grief about getting beat on Saturday. Man I was smiling ear to ear when I saw ISU moving the ball on Texas. Bret Meyer looked GREAT. What a letdown.

It is hard to simulate the kind of speed Texas has at their skill positions in practice. I think this is why we had trouble early on with our tackling. As the game progressed, we did a much better job of tackling and being aggressive. I was very pleased with our performance, other than the penalties. Was anybody else as pissed as I was at ABC for not getting the feed to the game fixed?

That was an excuse by ABC, it was made to make them look incompetent rather than as playing favorites. They knew that if they went back to the ISU/Texas game that they would have to stay there until the end of the game, and that would have cut into their coverage of the ND/MSU game.

I was at the game and I could sense that giving up the 3rd down play (due to the late hit by RP) definitately changed the game, we seemed to still have some confidence at that point being only down by 9 I believe. Even when it was 30-14 in the 3rd quarter and Stevie ripped off a great run to set up a 3rd and 1, and the next play call was a pass with only Stevie in the backfield I about lost it. If you can't get one yard from a veteran line and a backfield of Koch and Hicks, then we shouldn't even spend money on football.

I felt comfortable with the pace of the game after ISU came back and provided the challenge we were hoping for.....however, after reading DMac's comment about stupidity in the play for the late hit. Gimme a break, .... better watch out on job of a critic DMac, he's a kid, you pump-up, and expect to perform on adrenalin...he did just that....do you feel threatened about something??

The 2big plays that seemed to hurt REAL bad, the roughing the passer, hopefully he
will learn from this, and the INT. off of DAVIS's foot as we were going to score. I think
we were down 9 at the time, we score 7 and we are in the game at half, with MO on
our side. To win 12 games a year you have to be good and lucky, our luck has been slim to none this year.

We definitely didn't get any breaks...just the opposite. A couple were mental mistakes on our part while a couple were just plain unlucky. I don't think we would have won but a couple of plays made the score as wide of a margin as it was when it could have been much, much closer. I'm proud of our guys.

While Parker's penalty was critical, we shouldn't crucify the kid. He's a true freshman, playing just his 4th collegiate game. Like previously mentioned, hopefully he'll learn from that mistake and go on to be one of Iowa State's best defenders in the next four years.

And Meyer took the blame for that interception too. (That's a man right there.) He claimed he should have led Davis better and could have had a TD as a result.

Texas was an impressive team, but for all the top-notch recruits and $ flowing into that program, I felt ISU hung pretty well with them.

That INT was not off Davis' foot, it was off the cornerback's, if you look the replay.

The only reason that pass was an INT is because the ball was underthrown. you could argue, horribly underthrown.

-keep.

Another big play that I recall is the endzone TD catch that should have been an interception by Hunley in the endzone for a touchback. I can think of at least 16 points we gave up on 3 plays. 3 PLAYS! Texas is the kind of team that you just don't get a break from. You mess up 1 play and they will burn you.
