i will give my 100% unprofessional recruiting analyst on this kid.

I've seen a lot of his games in person. He may prove me wrong, but, as of his junior year games i watched, this kid is nowhere near ready for the field of a Big 12 team as a qb. Now if we're recruiting him for another position, then this entire evaluation is bogus…

But as a QB:

Fathers the coach, play calling has been called into question in the past both privately and publicly. Running backs and Oline do the majority of the work to get down the field and then suddenly the play calling changes. Then its zone read Moore, trap Moore, dive Moore. Everyone knows its going to happen and the kid still finds a way to get into the end zone. But, that does not make him the caliber of player to ever warrant a QB Schollie to a big 12 team. Not very good in the passing department, and majority of long pass plays are dinks that someone takes to the house. Not extremely accurate and although his footwork is decent in form, its not quick and sharp like you would like out of someone running our scheme. Back to this strife because it is huge part of my opinion. It has created animosity on the team that has leaked out to social media on multiple occasions and even led to a decent player transferring for his senior season to an in town rival to be away from it.

Again, i have seen these games first hand not on tape. This kid is not even REMOTELY close to the tapes i've seen on AA, Grant, Sam or even Lenning. Their skill set as throwers was evident on tape. He's got good size, with decent power as a runner. But he's not a running back. This staff does not have time to take in a project player and mold him into their guy. He needs a lot of work on accuracy and that has been a problem with our qb's for a long long time. His decision making is usually good, but, if everything else is lacking, thats not enough for me to bet my future on him at the most important position on the team.

He's a 2017 recruit and wouldn't see the field for a Big 12 team for at least 4 years. Aren't you being a little premature?

Devon steal your girlfriend? :jimlad:

Thanks for that. I'd always take a chance on talented in-state athletes, though. Plenty of quarterbacks are brought in and transition to other areas of need.

. . . as of his junior year games i watched. . . .

Class of 2017. He's heading into his junior year, then, correct? You watched him as a sophomore.

As a fan, I trust the judgment of Mangino, Sturdy, and Rhoads. As a fan, too, I say let's see how D Moore performs as a prep senior before we make a conclusion about his suitability as a Big 12 quarterback. JMO, though.

Wasn't he a backup his senior year of h.s.

Not sure, but I was under the impression he was brought in as "Mangino's Guy". My assumption at that point was SBR would start through graduation, then the keys would be handed to DeLira.

Could be wrong. Haven't talked to the coaching staff about it.

No.

DeLira had to sit out the first two games last year for breaking an unspecified team rule. Played pretty well when he got on the field. If you watch much video, it is hard not to be very impressed with DeLira's arm. He has an exceptional arm (IMO). However, I am somewhat skeptical as to how well he will do (in college) because of his small size. He does not strike me as a QB, that can "get planted in the ground" with out something breaking.

He's listed at 6'1, 174 lbs. That's on the smaller side, but not much smaller than our current QB's. Give him 1-2 years to hit the gym and read the playbook and we can see what happens.
