NBA: Derrick Rose traded to Knicks

I guess the Bulls are riding with butler. Seems risky with him and hoiberg clashing.

I am not a Knicks fan but I am a fan of hornacek, so I hope rose's knees hold out.

Not really all that surprising. I'm guessing they're just tired of all the injuries, plus they really didn't give up all that much. More Money to dump into butler.

Yikes. I fear for Fred that the Bulls are going to clean house from Garpax on down. Is Noah still wanting out?

Yeah, I'm not sure this is really a "WOW" moment. Pretty clear he's not what he once was anymore.

This is a good thing for Fred.

This is a good move for the Bulls. They sold high on Rose. Many Chicago fans are not happy with it right now because they unrealistically hoped Rose would return to MVP form.

I think it's a good move too, but I certainly wouldn't call it selling high on him.

I'm fine with this. Frees up cap space and allows the Bulls financial space to do some good things. Make a run at Durant?

I truly believe they got all that they could for Derrick Rose at this point in his career. He has sat out more games than he has played in the last 4 years, he is a score first PG with limited explosiveness compared to when he started, and it opens up their cap space. I think Calderon is a trade piece for them, Jerian Grant is a very solid player and can be good for them if used correctly, and Robin Lopez is an okay/a lot cheaper replacement for the inevitable departure of Joakim.

On a somewhat unrelated note, about 10 years ago when Facebook groups where a thing I can remember being invited to a group entitled "Joakim Noah sucks, is gay, and needs to cut his hair" My how things have changed.

That's about the best the Bulls were going to get for Rose at this point. Lopez is a serviceable big, and Jerian Grant is an interesting project. They did well just to get Rose out of town so both sides can move on.
