DC Wayne Bolt loses 252 lbs. in one year

He looked pretty good last weekend. You can tell he lost a bunch of weight obviously, yet he looked good.

McFarland looks a lot smaller than his past photos too. Good to see our coaches are putting as much hard work into themselves as they are their jobs.

Companies don't sponsor wellness programs and such for no reason. If their employees are not healthy and happy, they won't be worth much on the job. It's no different with coaches.

I especially liked this...

Nowadays, Wayne finds himself very busy as the defensive coordinator for Iowa State University. “The people here don’t know the 500 pound Bolt. They know the 270 Bolt. Hopefully, soon, they’ll know the 250 pound Bolt. I am going to keep doing this ‘til I can’t do this anymore,” said Wayne.

Good for him, i know some people that have got Gastric bypass surgery done and they've all been sooo glad they went through with it!

Gastric bypass is a dangerous surgery...Charlie Weiss almost died after it and walks with a limp due to a complication associated with this surgery.

Have Bolt and McFarland had this surgery or are they doing the "old fashioned way"?

Frankly, it's not too atypical to see overweight coaches with the kind of lifestyle they tend to lead...work-a-holics with poor eating habits.

Well in the article it said he had gastric bypass surgery. And for it being dangerous, i know there are risks, but the rewards are huge.

For some the risks are worth it compared to the risks of being that much over weight.

Exactly, at 500lbs its probaly damn hard to do anything physical! I don't know if he has kids, but many people are too big to play with their kids and just too big everyday normal activities.

It looks like many of you missed the early DMR article about Bolt's Gastric Bypass Surgery last winter. With the new Alumni/Aquatic Center being built in the Iowa State Center, Bold was quoted as saying "I hope that any student, athlete or not, who wants to lose weight can come right up to me and I can help them acheive their goal." This guy is a true class act, and by that quote alone, he cares about kids.

This article actually cemented my dislike for the DMR however. The title for the article was "The Skinny on ISU's Bolt" with a picture of him at 500+ pounds. Completely classless.
