I know I am in the minority here but this is The Great American race and it is awesome! Considering how the racing has been through speed week and today it should be a great race. Anyone on here pumped to watch it like me. Racing is one of the biggest sports going!:yes:

Put in the "off topic" category, rather than "pro sports." It's a great event but not a sporting event.
I'm pretty excited about it. I was never a NASCAR fan at all until last year. I watched Daytona, bet a bunch of credits on Ryan Newman to win on here, he did win and yadda yadda yadda I was hooked. I think the key for me being able to watch it was having someone to cheer for. I got in a fantasy league and with 4 different drivers to root for each week it makes it a lot more interesting. I still lost interest last year once football started up, but I'm ready to get into it again.
Nice im doing the same thing i got newman, stewart, and dale jr.
ya if your a casual fan football does it in the way, i do tend to watch more college fb than racing but it still rocks:notworthy:

Just bought a new home theater system for tomorrow...add in some adult beverages and a day off work on Monday...Let's go racing boys!!!
Just as pumped as you are...been waiting all winter for Speedweeks to kick off, hopefully the race tomorrow will be as good as the Shootout was.
I used to be pretty crazy about this race. I still like it because its the start of racing season...but winning the Daytona 500 is quite flukey, IMO...its a matter of just staying out of the wrecks, and being within the top 10 on the final three laps. Restrictor plate racing is a lot about pure luck.
id like to see some of you guys go 500 miles at those speeds in a stock car that diss nascar and say it isn't a sport. its more of a workout than you think; its not driving your toyota camry or your chevy cavalier to work on a daily basis!!

Not only that, but it seems like whoever wins the 500 rarely goes on to have a successful year in the Cup standings.
If your performance is based on a machine and you can be fat and out of shape (not saying they all are), then it is not a sport.
