MLB: Dang Yankees!

I hate the Yankees more than anything but the Hawkeyes and Huskers.

They are still underachieving in my book with their money and players they have.

I sure would feel better with the sox having a 2.5 game cushion going into the metrodome starting tomorrow.... I guess I'll see if that happens or not

Yup, we definitely had our chances last night, even with the rookie (Sworzak - sp?) starting in place of Perkins.

I just hope Liriano can hold down the fort today and we won't have to play catch up again......ughh......DANG YANKEES!!!

Rookie pitchers can occasionally be a blessing. A month or so ago the Yankees got dominated by the Nats and Marlins during a span of 8 days where they'd never seen the starting pitcher before that game. They didn't exactly light up Sworzak last night either...

Today's game could have a loooooottttt of offense. Liriano hasn't exactly been all world this year and Aceves has been in the 'pen all year. Then again, both could show up with their A-game and it'll be a pitcher's duel. I'd however bet there's more offense than pitching.

Aceves is on a 65 pitch count today. Hopefully the Twins can get a couple early runs and get to the bullpen even sooner than they're are planning on today.

I actually don't think they're underachieving against anyone other than Boston (something like 0-9 or 1-8 or something on the year). The Rays need to get outrageously hot to catch either the Yankees or Red Sox, who have been awesome this year even without the services of their front of the rotation guys (Daisuke and Wang).

And CyDude16, let's talk underachieving. The Cubs.

I agree - it's good to see the young guys come in and battle the "New York Overpaid All-Stars" - Keppel did a nice job in relief yesterday too.

Yankees are only under-achieving if you had them pegged for 100 wins. I think they are about where they should be right now.
Even with as bad as the Yankees started, 100 wins is still possible. Has any division ever had 2 teams get to 100? Both the Red Sox and Yankees will have a shot.

Yea I was glad to see Keppel come in and forget about what he did in the game Monday, he's got a good future. Swarzak Keppel and RA have been great additions to the pitching staff this season.

Hah reminds me, I was at the game Monday and when they did the Famous Dave's Farmhand I was hoping they'd put the Crain Train[wreck] up there, no such luck though.

I don't understand why everyone thinks they're underacheiving? Got off to a slow start but are 14 games above .500. Only 3 games back of the Dodgers for best record in the bigs, and the National League is much weaker.
