You could be right, but if Mac isn't named the head coach then I doubt if he would want to be the DC for South Florida over staying where he is at at Florida. It seems like it would be a step down.
Yeah. Not to sound like I'm bagging on Coach Mac, but I think USF can do better.

Link says that the whole coaching staff will be fired. Most people probably would have said that WB leaving USF, who was competing for Big East titles a couple years ago, to come to a 2-10 ISU team would not have been a smart move. Looks like he made the right move for him and us. :biggrin:
I believe he deserves a chance where her can get the best support from the Athletics Director. I also believe that he learned from the past experience and will be a better HC. Good luck to Dan !
I'm not too worried that if he gets another HC job that he'd bring the current ISU staffs with him: he has too much class and respect for Iowa State to do that.

ESPN Big East Blogger on Sportscenter mentioned Dan McCarney as a possible replacement. I will be a big USF Bulls Supporter if this is the case!!

Yeah - but look at Manhattan for the counter to that point as well.
I don't know - I'm just throwing it out there. But he has ties. And let's be honest, a 4 or 5 year self life for a coach is pretty long nowadays. Look no further than us to see that in our men's major sports.
Wally came to ISU to coach with his son. If he got the gig down there, he certainly could take him with, make him DC, coach in waiting.
Probably a stretch - I don't really know. Most likely makes more sense to keep a current asst anyway.
There should be a ton of people wanting this job. Biggest school in the state, easiest to get guys in to, dynamic freshman Qb and one of the most fertile 30 mile recruiting beds in the country.
