I am taking part in a bachelor party in Minneapolis next weekend, and I was hoping someone could direct me to a good eating/drinking establishment in which to watch the okie lite game. We are mostly recent ISU grads.

Before someone gives me a hard time about it I have been to every home game so far. I made these plans before I knew how good we were going to be. FORGIVE ME FOR I HAVE SINNED. PLEASE DON'T THROW ME IN THE PIT OF MISERY.

Don't dilly, dilly?

For a bachelor party? Rick's Cabaret.

Seriously, Sensor's and Darby's are the two official ones. If you're staying in a particular area, we could probably direct you too a sports bar in the area if you'd prefer to stay in that area. Minnesota sports fans aren't too mean about football and shouldn't mind some Cyclone fans showing up. Also, there shouldn't be too many Okie Lite fans around. That being said, you may want to make sure that if there's a Sconnie or Hok game at the same time, you check that the local sports bar doesn't have an official gamewatch for these games.

Logistically, if you're staying downtown, Darby's would be pretty close and if you're staying near the Mall of America, Sensor's would be pretty close.

Yeah, as others have said, Joe Sensor's or UpTown Tavern. For a Bach Party, if you are in the city, UpTown Tavern is the easier one for you to get to. More of a bar than Sensor's as it is in the heart of UpTown, but it does have some solid bar food options.

We don't currently have an alumni volunteer coordinator for Uptown Tavern so I am not sure if they are playing our games or not. ***Official gamewatches**** last week and this coming week are at Darby's and Senser's. We had a pretty good crowd at both last week.

I can confirm that they are showing the games and putting on the volume.

Thanks. We are spread a little thin right now for volunteers to "host" so haven't included them in announced events. They are still listed by ISUAA as a site. It is a good option especially for younger alumni living in the area and I think their food is pretty decent for that sort of venue.

We are staying in the downtown area for the party. That doesn't mean we wouldn't be able to travel a bit.
Darbys is in the downtown area. Also a few good breweries right near there if you are into that sort of thing (Fulton, Inbound and Modist all within a couple minute walk).

If you are downtown I'd do Darby's, it's only a couple blocks from Target Field on the west end of the warehouse district. Some of the group after the game last week at Darby's:

I'm from that area and Joe Sensors being called an Iowa State bar is like saying you go to Applebee's for their cocktails.

It's not an Iowa State bar, but they host Iowa State gamewatch events. They had people from the Alumni Associate and a designated area for Iowa Staters to watch when I went their earlier this season.

Mtown is just playing his "I used to live in the Twin Cities when I was a teen" card. We have had a good relationship with Steve the manager there for years. We even streamed the UNI game via Cyclone.TV the last two years which most places are unwilling or unable to do. Heck, he even streamed an ISU WBB game for us while we were waiting for the MBB game to come on ESPN last year and then put both games up for us. They still have the best big screen viewing of any of the sports entertainment bars. Downside is conflicts with other big games. Sometimes it is hard for us to be the feature game when other big games are on at the same time. The last couple games we were the feature, this weekend is a perfect bad storm of other big games on at the same time. Like every game of interst in Minnesota is on at 2:30.

Gamewatch venues are never perfect. Someone is ALWAYS unhappy. That someone is also always someone who doesn't volunteer or help with anything. Big bars that can accommodate our biggest crowds (Iowa games/NCAA runs etc) will have conflicts with other sports fans. Very small bars can have fewer conflicts but can also be too small for our biggest crowds or non-sports bars can have conflicts with regular bar crowd at night games (Uptown) or not even being able to get the game (less of a problem with better Big 12 TV.)

The only complaint I had was when Uptown Tavern made everyone sitting at the bar, stand up and lose their chairs during the 4th qtr of our NCAA game against Purdue.

Yeah, I went for the UNI game because it was the only one who streamed Cyclone.TV, thought that was really cool of them. They even put it onto the patio TV's where non-ISU people were sitting/eating. I enjoyed the game there even though it wasn't as crazy of an enviroment as it is in Uptown Tav. But I also think that is due to the location and younger alumni being more willing to show up there for games.
