I watched this interview about a month ago. Pretty good one. I did not know Jackie Sherrill was an assistant at ISU.

He did a great job at ISU but his time had run it's course. I think it was best for both parties. I still think his downfall was hiring bad assistants when Loney and a lot of the guys that came with him moved on.

Brickey and Fine were disastrous hires. Barney Cotton righted the ship a little bit but you have to wonder what would’ve happened if Mac could’ve kept the original staff together longer.

I was never a huge fan of Skladany on defense either.

Wow. Love coach Mac, loved him from the beginning. I remember when he first got the job, he got myself and my friends so excited. He spoke with such enthusiasm, still does, and it fired us up. Even when they were not winning much those first couple of years, it was fun as we had Troy Davis and that brought national attention to the program. Then in 1998, he got that big win at Iowa, I was so thankful for that. Since we have struggled against Iowa the last few years, even last year in the win, I now really appreciate the way Mac had us ready for this game. His team came out and played with their hair on fire for the hawks, even in losses in 2004 and 2006, they played well. That 2005 game, damn! Maybe we should bring him in the locker room the pregame speech.
