I've seen lines from 6 1/2 to 17. 9 1/2 is the one that keeps popping up recently though

Some other lines worth mentioning:

-Tulsa/Bowling Green opened with Tulsa as the three point favorite but is currently BG -4.5. But the people making big bets are making them on Tulsa.

-Tech is only a six point favorite over SMU.

-Texas is a 42 point favorite over New Mexico State. That's a lot of points.

-LSU is -4 over TCU, with the money almost exactly matching the spread of bets.

-Iowa opened at -6.5 over NIU but that has been bet down to just -3.

Betting folks: is this a good line? I mean, my natural instinct is to be offended it's not at least 14, but I wouldn't want to freak out unnecessarily, our friend Bobby looks down on it.

We should be incredibly offended, but that's mostly because we get offended about basically anything.

You got that backwards, 76% of the public is on Tulsa and the line keeps moving in their favor. The real money is coming in on BG.

Also, I don't know where you saw that Iowa opened at -6.5, almost every place I saw had them at -3 to start.
