Current Cyclones' NBA Potential

just curious as to who everyone thinks has legitimate NBA potential on our roster right now? I see three guys. white with the most potential, then clyburn, and Allen. all three obviously have to prove themselves, but I believe they all will be drafted because I believe these three will meet or exceed expectations. I will not bring the wrath of cyclonefanatic on myself by adding more to that list but I do believe others will get looks (Lucious, Babb?) just seeing what everyones opinion is!
 
White = First round potential.
Allen = Second round. He was a projected second rounder before leaving MSU.
Clyburn = Second round potential.

As of right now, those are the only three you can talk about. Everyone else is either unproven, or not NBA material. Lucious, Babb, and Booker are proven guys for other teams, but they are not NBA material.
 
Quick thoughts:

White and Allen will get a shot if they do well this year. Only downside on these 2 are the inferred character issues that may shy nba teams away.

Not sure about Clyburn, I haven't seen him play at all. Had the stats last year but definitely needs to add strength. This redshirt year will serve him well in that regard, but it does make him another year older. Age was one of the knocks on Brackins in the eyes of nba teams...

Babb if he lives up to his potential, he's got the shot, size and defense to be a solid 3 in the nba.

Ejim if he continues to work with CFH on his shooting form. He'd have to be a 3 (and maybe a 2) at the next level, which would pretty much require a strong outside shot.

I agree about White and Clyburn. Not so sure about Allen. He is simply to small to play the two in the NBA. I'm guessing some teams might take a look at him as a free agent but unless he shows a sudden affinity with the PG position next year, my guess is that he ends up playing Euro-ball.

I don't know if you can really say Lucious, Babb and Booker are not draft material yet. They were not draft material when they came here. But DG wasn't even on the map before this year. I think we need to see those guys play before we write them off.

Booker couldn't produce at a small school. Babb came off the bench for Penn State. Lucious was a spot starter for MSU who didn't average many points. They are are not draft material. Babb is the only one of those three who could potentially develop into a draft prospect. On top of that, NBA GM's and coaches are huge on younger guys. Seniors are always overlooked for younger guys because they supposedly have more potential. This years draft was weak, so many seniors went, but in most drafts, those guys slip to the end of the first round and into the second. That is also something to keep in mind when it comes to these 23-24 year old transfers.
 
I think it hurts some of these players NBA draft status because they play for Iowa State. If they would have stayed at there schools they would be drafted no doubt

It is a shame people continue to believe this and continue to spew this crap. Wake up man, the NBA doesn't care if you are from DMACC or India. Did you watch the draft? Did you see some of the schools these guys played for?

Did you watch the draft this year?
I think they'll actually have a better chance at getting drafted if they transferred to BFE. :twitcy:
 
I think that White is the only one right now. It would help if he measures 6'9+. He has a lot to prove, though. At 6'8, he's a tweener and he's going to have to show skills to play SF. Babb could possibly get a shot if he can play the 2. Ejim and Clyburn would really have to show guard skills because they would be undersized at the 3. Don't know about Clyburn, but Ejim would have to make HUGE improvements with his handle and shot. Allen would have to prove that he can play PG. Honestly, the guy who I think has the best shot outside of White is Sledge, but he's going to have to develop an outside shot.

Just my opinion, but White is a 2nd rounder and most everyone else is either a European player or a D-Leaguer.

Did you really say Sledge? He is 5'8". no way a guy that small gets drafted unless he shows stardom which will be rare for a guy without a jump shot

Yeah because Fizer, Tinsley, Vroman, Blalock, Brackins, and Taylor all got drafted because they played for someone else :rolleyes:

Dude chill out, Iowa State does not get as much publicity as the schools that Royce and Allen came from. That hurts their chances bucko.

No it doesn't you ******* moron. They draft players based on talent, not school or country they play for.
