What an idiot: Chicago Cubs to suspend Ian Stewart for Twitter rant - ESPN Chicago

Hard to talk like that when you are batting a pathetic .164 in 110 AB in AAA right now which is the 2nd worst BA of anyone on Iowa's roster right now. Cubs made the mistake of signing him back for another year but at this point I hope they let him rot on the AAA team. He'll be lucky to get much more than a minimum offer with an invite to spring training somewhere next year and they already passed him through waivers just to send him to Iowa and no one claimed him. He is absolutely right, if Valbuena got hurt Junior Lake and Josh Vitters both would likely get called up before he would.

He's a lost cause and while it would be nice to shed his negative attitude by releasing him a part of me says stick it to him and keep him the rest of the year. I'm sorry but if he wants out then forfeit the $2 mil he is stealing from the Cubs this year otherwise shut up and enjoy the biggest paycheck you are going to see in awhile.

I agree, make him stay and leave him in AAA unless he actually improves his hitting numbers. Why the hell would the Cubs release him when they would still have to pay his entire salary? Screw that, keep him and then non-tender at the end of the season. If this guy had a brain he'd realize that he needs to keep his head down and work on improving so he can get a contract from someone at the end of the season.

Dude sucks, don't understand why we even offered him a contract this year.

Just saw a clip of Theo on WGN with the ultimate backhanded compliment saying Stewart had the chance to be a free agent this past off-season and decided to re-sign with the Cubs instead. Said he hopes he works things out in AAA where they could potentially look at bringing him back up but for now they are getting better production at 3B with the guys they have.

Hard to complain about the situation you're in when you decided to take the money over a possible better situation with less money. He knew he'd have to battle Valbuena and others at 3B and getting hurt didn't help that and now with his pathetic BA at Iowa what did he expect? Maybe he was a few too many drinks in last night when he was saying all this? Cubs have shown they aren't scare to shake things up when guys aren't performing. Castro is one of their main building blocks and he's batting 7th tonight because he's in a terrible slump at the moment so no one regardless of name is getting a free pass.
