MLB: Cubs, Dodgers Haggling over Dempster Trade

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers remain the frontrunner to land Chicago Cubs righthander Ryan Dempster, and the two teams continue to go back-and-forth over which prospects the Dodgers will send to the Windy City.

One executive on a rival team said, “It appears the Dodgers are the favorite,â€￾ which has been the sense for a while. Though as of 10 p.m. CDT, it didn’t appear a deal was close.

The Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals are also thought to have serious interest in acquiring Dempster, who is 5-3 with a major-league-leading 1.86 ERA.
Dempster’s next turn in the rotation is Friday, so the Cubs may want to do a deal beforehand to avoid the risk of injury.
