I've got tomorrow off for my birthday and I am looking for somewhere that has good crab cakes. I've had a craving for them and I just don't know where to go. I'm looking at either Cedar Rapids or Dubuque. I'm willing to go a little further if someone has a good suggestion. Thanks.

In Worthington, IA there is a pace called Simon's. At one time they had fresh seafood from Maryland. Good luck.

I've never lived on the east coast or have ever been there so I don't even really know what good seafood is, so I won't be too hard to please. I think I might check out Smugglers Wharf. My wife has said that place is pretty good and I've never been there so it sounds like the perfect place to go.

Grew up in Maryland and my folks still live there.

Buy the fresh ones online. They will overnight them to you on dry ice and they are effing fantastic when broiled. My parents sent me some last year as a birthday gift.

I have had these fresh from G&M, too. Very little difference in taste between "fresh" and "shipped" ones.

Best part is, they're loaded with jumbo lump crab meat and very little filler!
