I am considering Corpus Christi for spring break with my wife and 2 teenage daughters. Looking for any information on things to do, how are the beaches, weather, etc. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Daughter went last year and said it was NOT a big, crazy party with a ton of college kids. Rather subdued in fact. They stayed in some AirBnB on Padre Island (which is different from South Padre Island). Weather was pretty good for them in the 70s all days.

USS Lexington is a good time and well worth the price of admission. Lots of history on (both) the Lexington(s). I also found the movie memorabilia intriguing as well. They had the Top Gun F-14 there as well as memorabilia from the movie Pearl Harbor on board.

We stayed on Mustang Island which I believe is the beach north of South Padre. Good time.

Only been down there once a long, long time ago but I do remember there being a sh*t ton of jellyfish in the waters. Can't remember if it was CC or Padre Island, minor stings, nothing major, just a lot of those little f*ckers.

Thanks. I assume by your name, you are in Texas. How does Galveston Island compare to Corpus?

The beaches/water at Corpus are nicer. Galveston was nice when I went but depending on currents, the water can get kinda nasty. I think Galveston is a bit more "touristy".

Corpus is quieter. Nicer water. Galveston has more touristy things to do. Both beaches will have brownish looking water. That's from the sand bars and silt runoff from the large rivers that dump into the gulf. Galveston has gators every once in a while. Weather wise, you just don't know. It will probably be pretty warm. The ocean breeze takes away a lot of that Texas heat once you get on the beach.

The USS Lexington was the aircraft carrier where Nile Kinnick was assigned. His plane had a maintenance issue during a routine training exercise and it never recovered. Lexington was inbound to Pearl Harbor from the Panama Canal when it happened.

Correct as well as the ship that picked up George Bush when he was shot down.
There is a tribute / memorial to both Kinnick and Bush on the ship today.
