Cool or Not?

My wife and I are going to have our first child in may. One of my wife's favorite activities is to come up with names. Currently, if said child is a boy, she is leaning to either Jackson (Jack) or Maxwell (Max). Today, I had somewhat of an epiphany: if we do have a boy and name him Jackson, maybe I could convince her to use "Trice" as a middle name. Is this as cool as I think it is, or is it incredibly nerdy? If it helps, our last name is not "Stadium".
 
If your wife agree's to that then I want to get a divorce and marry her. Do you mind?

My wife had a co-worker who named their kid Jackson Daniel (insert last name here). The wife was clueless until it was too late.

Not awful. At least it's not obvious like when some people from the eastern side of the state name their kid Kinnick.
 
I think it's debatable because Jack Trice the person was a very honorable man and having his name would be awesome. However, most people would probably think you named your child after a stadium, which is lame.

cool for a dog not that cool for a baby. Same goes for Hayden, Kinnick, and Tate that I have heard circling in hawk circles. Maxwell and Jackson seem much more classic and likely to stand the test of time. Give him a family name for a middle name (ie honor someone you know rather than someone you've never met or a slab of concrete)

Ok, I will admit I LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Jack, of course, that is why I named my second born, Jackson. We also had Max in our top 5.
 
Ha, this is kind of ironic. My fiance and I play this game too and she really likes the name Logan, I really like the name Xavier, so we thought we could name the kid Logan Xavier. But I also have a Wolverine tattoo on my back and an exhaustive X-Men comic collection in my closet, so anyone who is also a nerd-loser like me would immediately think that we named the poor kid off a comic book, but my fiance independently came up with the idea for Logan. Personally I think it's cool but I don't want to destroy the boy's sense of humanity.

As far as Jack Trice goes I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Some people will always ask where that name came from, some people will know the name and assume you just named it after a stadium, and others will know the story behind the man. I don't think there's any way you can avoid it. If you both like it and want to use it, then power to you.

Just please don't name him Tom Osborne.
 
We had a big discussion on here a while back when I decided I wanted Cy for the name of our son. My wife hated the idea and everybody on the board made fun of me:cry:
 
My general advice is if you have to ask a bunch of random peole on a message board if it is a good idea it probably isn't. Good ideas usually don't need random reassurance.

That's kind of cool and creative, though. And a pretty name to boot. If the girl doesn't grow up to like football she'll never get it, and if she does she'll love the meaning of her name.
 
When we were thinking about having kids, Ripvdub kept telling me that we had to name a boy Jor-el. SuperCy might know who that is.....

I said NO WAY!
