Conflicting Call on Fouls

I know (or at least I think I know) that there is a lead referee and two umpires on a 3-person basketball officiating crew. Today in the ISU-Texas game, 3rd quarter I think, one official called an offensive foul on Heather and another official called a blocking foul on the Texas player. It was resolved that the foul was called on Heather and the basketball disallowed.
I don't know that I have ever heard how the officials make that decision. Do they call in the third person? Does the lead referee make the decision? How is that conflict resolved other than it always seems to be resolved in the other team's favor?

That's easy. If it's at a critical point in the game, it goes to the Team named Texas or Baylor. In men's it goes to kU. Otherwise, the refsame call it as they see it.

Unfamiliar with play but what is supposed to happen is the referee who has control over that "zone" should make the call unless they defer it. If they can't agree, it's supposed to be a double foul.

All 3 officials are referees. They'll change positions between lead (baseline), center (generally around free throw line extended), and trail (the deepest official.

I don't understand why the two didn't even discuss. The guy who made the block call just looked at the other official then pretended he didn't call it. At they shouldve at least talked about it. In that close of game it was a huge call too.

It seemed that the official that called the charge was under the basket and presumably with a better view. It also appeared that Bill appealed to the blocking call official who seemed to defer to the official with the purported better vantage point. Or, so it seemed.

The contact was made at a 90-degree angle, which made the call more baffling. Bowe was going across the lane, yet the player she "charged" into fell straight back toward the hoop. It's the kind of carom that billiard players would love.

None of the refs in basketball trump any others. The woman ref who called it had the play in her zone and blew it, the defender was clearly not set to take the charge. Glad Bill let her have it.

Yes, I was in row 5 behind the ISU bench. The ref blew the call. The replay looked like the UT player almost jumped into the ISU player.

Yes, I sit in row 5 behind the ISU bench. The ref blew the call, I believe. The replay looked like the UT player almost jumped into the ISU player. Really good game, but the stripes made few friends in Ames.

The right call, IMO, was no foul on either player. The Texas player did a good acting job. Heather made a great play getting to the hoop and making the shot. It was neither a clear charge or a clear block. Sometimes, well, maybe way to many times, the officials seem to think the fans came to watch them. Let the players play the game.

As a crew, they have to defer to the individual who had the best look. That person has to step up, though, and be vocal about what they saw.

It was mentioned in another post about screens. Jadda seems to pass fairly far from our screeners on the outside. Defensive teams are always allowed to reach around and hook our screener, going over the top. I see that called on other teams as a foul. Why do we never seem to get that call? She needs to travels closer to the screen , or react to the contact, IMO. It's really disrupting the start of our offense.
