Does anyone remember Earl Bruce? The coach makes or breaks a team. Good coaches will win, it doesn't matter where you put them. Chizik needs a wakeup call.

Earl Bruce's first 3 seasons were 4-7 and he inherited a bowl team, not one of the worst teams in NCAA football.

Why are people pulling KF out of their ***es in comparison to GC. This is the second post I've seen like this. Who cares about KF?

The only thing KF did last year was drain EIU boosters for about $500,000 per win.

If you want comparisons, go look at the first few years for truly great coaches. In fact, weren't Mack Browns' first few years pretty rocky? Wasn't he having trouble just beating OU? Wasn't there talk of firing?

Oh yeah I remember Earl Bruce...Thats the guy who was 36-30 and 24-9 the last 3 years! Its also the guy that our athletic director flew with to Columbus Ohio to help Earle get a new job and subject ISU football to also ran status or worse.

Yeah I remember that guy... sitting in Memorial stadium in October and watching the Clones beat Nebraska rated no 16 at the time.

Yeah I remember that guy... sitting in Kinnick stadium and watching the Clones beat the squawks 31-0!!

I have a dread feeling that I will DIE before I ever see those days again!!!!!!!!!!!

45 years of isu football and still losing

We will have to improve in the coaching department, but this was Chizik's second game as a head coach. Obviously, the cupboard was a little bare in the talent department, especially along the lines. Chizik will have to have patience as will the fans.

I do not have a lot of patience and was extremely mad walking out last night, but I guess that I will have to be.

There is still no game that I would rather go to on a Saturday than Iowa State vs anyone at Jack Trice.

You people are delusional. Should we have lost to ksu? Probably not. Should we have lost to uni? Yes. They are a better team plain and simple. Pollard could have brought Urban Meyer in as coach and he would have lost to uni with the players on this roster. For all of u shortsighted people out there who r calling for chiziks head, u are starting to sound a lot like stereotypical hawk fans when the road gets a little bumpy.

I love how Chizik hasn't even had a chance to do a full season of recruiting and people already bashing him - lame guys, it's really sad. IT WILL TAKE TIME for him to put a team of HIS on the field.

I compared KF in another post because when he took over Iowa I think the talent level was about the same as what we are looking at now. You can't compare Mack Brown and Texas to Iowa State. If the state Iowa had the type of prospects that the state of Texas has, Iowa State would be a contender year in and year out. I love Iowa State with a passion, but do you really think that this is the first choice for top of the line talent.

Mack Brown - first TWO seasons were 1-10.
As has been noted, Ferentz's first season was 1-10.
Dan Hawkins - 2-10 last year.

Let's face it, a lot of great coaches have had really rocky starts at talent depleted programs.

Earle Bruce was almost run out of town after his first three seasons. We won't win games until we get better players and that takes time. Remember we easily could have went winless last year.

Reading CF after losing a game is about as bad as being at the game. I don't like losing, I'm sick of it too, but have patience. Should we play UNI? Why not. 57,000 attendance sure helps the budget. Look at UNI dominance in volleyball over the last 10 years. We swept them 3-0 this week. Now we will be the dominant one. So it will be in football again. Quit being so emotional and have patience. It will come.

BINGO - it will take time people. We must give the new coaches time to get THEIR players in place for THEIR system. Right now they are just trying to survive the year - it's been bumpy and it will probably get bumpier. You don't have to like it, but you should show the IQ to understand it. //rant.

dschlitter, the point is that even great coaches do not turn a program around immediately. Where did you think I was making comparisons in terms of talent between TX and ISU??

Try to focus!

Here is my point for those of you that are slow: You cannot judge Chizik on two games, especially at the beginning of his head coaching career. Plus, I really don't care how KF did in his first year, because there are many other coaches out there that I would consider far greater and that also had difficult seasons to begin their careers.

Like the saying goes "you cant polish a turd"

You need the wake up

Yes you can --- you can do anything! Its messy as hell and never gets shiny unless you let it dry out really well, but you can do anything if you set your mind to it. You could even milk a cat since it has nipples....
