Betcha Frank Solich took one severe pay cut moving from Big XII to MAC.
Seeing that the worst paid Big XII coach (CPR) is paid almost quadruple the BEST paid MAC coach is at least encouraging that we can maybe attract an up-and-comer in a Mid-Major.

So Rhoads' pay is at the bottom of the B12. He would be ahead of two in the BIG, one in the ACC, one in the PAC, and last in the SEC. Thinking his results pretty much line up with his pay.
No, it sure wouldn't. Just like it didn't when everyone on here was fretting about losing him to Pittsburgh, or any of the other jobs he could have pursued.
Again, and I mean this, IDGAF if you fire him tonight. Until all of the other issues with Iowa State football are addressed, we will be here again in 5 years, or sooner.

lol there are ingenious doctors/engineers who make <25% of Rhoads' salary, and I would trust them more with this program
It would be interesting to see how the cost of living is in each of these towns.
The thing about Rhoads is if he gets fired in the next year, he still gets paid well so his average pay goes up. If he wins he will get a raise. He is basically in a win win, situation.

As for Snyder, he's the best. An amazing coach. Truly one of a kid. But are you going to give him the same admission standards? Are you going to give him everything he got when he started there? Are you going to make that 800 lb gorilla to the east disappear?

Alum support is still good for the product we are getting. To build that support you have to at some point win games. You have to give college kids a reason to go to game and become life long fans. There basically is a lost generation of fans, the 40 to 60 age group, the group with the extra money to throw at the program. When you have an aging (65 and above) base and large mid 30s and below base, you are not going to get a lot of money thrown at the program.
What more does ISU need facilities wise (besides another practice field)? You keep saying we need more and more and more, but fail to give answers.
You aren't thinking about this in the correct abstract.
There isn't a specific more, in terms of any individual thing. How many of our peers have had to finance a 7 million dollar upgrade by issuing bonds against future tv money? You could say the same thing about the 21 million for the football facility as well.
The sad fact is that the budget jump these past two budgets have been almost exclusively tv revenue.
I understand winning has to happen, as it should. But if that's the case, this staff had done enough it's first 4 years in terms of relevance to the history of Iowa State football. And it didn't translate in to **** for raised money.
When I asked the other day about what people considered the closest to the magical "6 win program that shouldn't be too hard to attain," I believe it was two that used Tech as an example. Well look at what they spend, and add 10 percent for location. That's what it costs. It means not having to put off the SEZ like we've had to, or the new practice field. Those are simple things that should have been done yesterday, and would have been at the schools we're expected to jump to get to that "realistic" 6 win level.
You are absolutely 100 % spot on about the lost generation of fans between 40-60. But then, I'm sure you remember the brilliant deal the AD had to make to get the necessary funding to begin construction of JTS to begin with. So many of these older fans never had to learn to give at even a modest rate because their seats were guaranteed for life.
It sucks having to be dragged in to even the late 20 th century as an athletic department, but we aren't even close.
