Ash first came to Iowa State in 2000 as a defensive graduate assistant under Dan McCarney. He was promoted to secondary coach in 2002 and served in that capacity through 2006. Ash was named recruiting coordinator for that last season.

I think this is a great hire, ISU secondaries were great when he was coach.

GO PAUL RHOADES!!!

Honest question about Ash: It seemed like he had success as a secondary coach at ISU, but he has not really progressed much in his career since he was a secondary coach at a non-BCS conference after leaving with DMac. Any ideas why he has not been able to move upward in the coaching ranks?

He is still relatively young.
